Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary/Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in providing administrative support, managing client interactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of our legal practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and familiarity with legal procedures and tools. This position offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment where attention to detail and confidentiality are paramount.

Duties & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a family law legal office, or equivalent
Professional experience answering calls and managing a multi-line phone system
Strong ability to book, confirm, and manage appointments and lawyer calendars
Confident handling of client calls, inquiries, and messages
Clear, professional, and empathetic telephone and in-person communication
Excellent English reading, writing, and comprehension skills
Ability to draft and format correspondence, documents, forms, and emails
Experience maintaining organized electronic and paper files
Strong understanding of confidentiality in a legal environment
Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with high-conflict or emotionally distressed clients
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other office systems
Reliable, organized, and able to manage competing front-desk priorities
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
Must have a valid Canadian Driver's License and reliable transportation
A successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory police clearance as a condition of employment
Excellent keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 45 wpm accurately

Beneficial Experience (But not mandatory)

Familiarity with family law terminology and procedures
Experience with legal practice management software
Exposure to court forms, filings, or basic clerk support tasks
Experience in a busy litigation or family law practice

This role is vital in supporting our lawyers' success through efficient administrative operations. We value candidates who are proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional support within a professional legal environment.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
