New Car Sales Manager - Winnipeg, MB

The Opportunity

An established automotive retail organization is seeking a New Car Sales Manager to join its leadership team.

This is a broad sales leadership role with responsibility for overall sales performance across both new and pre-owned vehicles. The position will have a stronger administrative and operational focus on the new vehicle side of the business, while the successful candidate will be equally accountable for supporting used vehicle sales, profitability, customer experience, and team performance.

We are looking for a confident and experienced leader who can set direction, create accountability, and bring out the best in a sales team. The right individual will be comfortable working with performance data, making commercial decisions, coaching people, and staying closely connected to the day-to-day sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the sales team in achieving volume, profitability, customer experience, and activity objectives
Take primary ownership of new vehicle sales administration, planning, reporting, and performance management
Maintain oversight of both new and pre-owned sales activity and results
Review sales performance regularly and identify areas requiring action or improvement
Establish clear expectations for sales activity, customer follow-up, appointments, closing performance, and profitability
Support inventory planning and ensure vehicle availability is aligned with customer demand and business objectives
Monitor pricing, market conditions, and competitive activity and adjust sales strategies when appropriate
Ensure sales opportunities are managed effectively from initial inquiry through delivery and follow-up
Coach and develop sales professionals through regular feedback, performance discussions, and hands-on support
Create a culture where accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and consistent performance are expected
Support the team with product knowledge, current offers, financing options, and sales initiatives
Identify opportunities to increase repeat business, referrals, customer retention, and overall sales penetration
Work collaboratively with other dealership leaders to improve processes and financial results
Monitor departmental expenses and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and business planning
Maintain appropriate operational, regulatory, and workplace safety standards
Step in directly when needed to support the team, resolve customer concerns, and close opportunities

What We're Looking For

3–5+ years of automotive retail sales management experience
Demonstrated success leading a sales team in a performance-driven environment
Experience managing both new and pre-owned vehicle sales
Strong understanding of sales metrics, gross profit, inventory, and dealership financial performance
Proven ability to coach, motivate, develop, and hold people accountable
Strong business judgment and the ability to make decisions using performance information
Comfortable working with CRM and dealership technology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Effective conflict-management and negotiation abilities
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
Professional, customer-focused, and commercially minded
High level of integrity and personal accountability
Self-directed, resilient, and results-oriented
Ability to build credibility with employees, customers, peers, and senior leadership
Previous experience in a formal sales leadership position is required
Related post-secondary education is considered an asset
