Carpenter

Valdek Construction Inc. — Winnipeg, MB _ Full-time, year-round $28–$34/hour_

Build real skills on real projects, year-round. Valdek Construction is a Winnipeg renovation company specializing in home additions, basement renovations, and full home remodels. We’re hiring a Carpenter to work alongside our Lead Carpenter on quality residential builds — with steady hours, interior work through the winter, and a clear path to grow into a lead role.

Why this job is different

$28–$34/hour depending on experience and certification
Year-round, full-time work — interior projects through the winter. No seasonal layoffs.
Done at noon on Fridays. 9-hour days Monday–Thursday, 4 hours Friday.
Weekends are yours. The odd weekend comes up on a deadline, but it’s rare and we schedule around your life.
Learn from strong leads: work directly under an experienced Lead Carpenter who teaches, not just delegates
A real growth path: we develop carpenters into Lead Carpenters — and we support apprenticeship training along the way
Benefits after 90 days — dental, drug, and health practitioner coverage (75% employer paid) — plus sick days
$500/year tool allowance after 90 days, and Valdek-branded work wear
Crew meetings in-house every third Friday — your input shapes how we build

What you’ll do

Obtain measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Cut, shape, and install framing, insulation, drywall, trim, cabinets, shelving, doors, and finishing hardware
Read blueprints and drawings and help turn them into a plan for the day’s work
Work at an efficient pace and take care of tools and equipment to help keep projects on or under budget
Keep the jobsite clean, safe, and orderly; tools and materials put away at the end of the day
Communicate with clients in a friendly, professional manner when needed
Report any vehicle, equipment, or tool damage to the Lead Carpenter immediately

Who we’re looking for

2+ years of carpentry experience — residential renovation experience is a strong asset; registered apprentices are welcome to apply
Takes pride in craft and genuine satisfaction in a quality product
Plans ahead: thinks about the next step before starting the current one
Punctual, respectful, presentable, and driven to keep learning
Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation to jobsites
