Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of donations, meals, supplies, and other essential items that support the daily operations of Ark Aid Street Mission Inc. This role ensures that critical resources are collected, delivered, and distributed to Ark Aid facilities and community partners while maintaining positive relationships with donors and external organizations.
This role directly supports the Christian mission of Ark Aid Street Mission Inc. by helping ensure that programs have the resources needed to serve individuals experiencing homelessness and marginalization. Through dependable transportation services, respectful interactions, and operational support, the Driver helps create opportunities for people to experience dignity, care, and belonging.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Services
- Safely transport donated items, meals, supplies, and equipment between Ark Aid locations, community partners, donors, and vendors.
- Plan and follow efficient daily delivery and pick-up schedules to ensure timely service.
- Optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel consumption.
- Assist with urgent deliveries or operational transportation needs as required.
- Ensure all items are transported safely and securely to prevent damage.
Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after each shift.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, organization, and overall readiness.
- Monitor fuel levels and arrange refueling as required.
- Report maintenance concerns, damage, or mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, vehicle regulations, and Ark Aid driving policies.
Donations, Purchasing & Operational Support
- Receive, load, unload, and inspect donated goods to ensure they are safe and suitable for transport.
- Assist with the collection and distribution of donations throughout Ark Aid facilities.
- Purchase supplies and program materials from vendors such as Costco, Home Depot, and other approved retailers.
- Maintain receipts and documentation for purchases in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Support program staff with deliveries, event setup, and operational logistics as needed.
Communication & Collaboration
- Build positive, professional relationships with donors, vendors, community partners, volunteers, and staff.
- Communicate delivery updates, scheduling changes, delays, or incidents to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Providing guidance to volunteers participating in transportation activities.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to support daily operational priorities
Qualifications & SkillsRequired Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, load, and unload materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, transportation, or logistics role.
- Familiarity with London, Ontario roads and surrounding areas.
- WHMIS certification.
- Safe Food Handling certification.
- Experience working within a non-profit, community, or social service environment.
- Experience working with volunteers or community partners.

Organizational Requirements
- Health & Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to all Ark Aid Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures, including safe lifting practices, vehicle safety standards, WHMIS requirements, and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Schedule
This position is regularly scheduled to work:
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Additional hours may be available based on operational needs, special events, or to provide coverage when required.
