The Opportunity:
Make your mark while you grow your career! Canadian Natural is looking for a Cost Controller, reporting to the Project Controls Lead. You will provide project cost management support to the Thermal & Conventional business unit. In this role, you will proactively plan capital projects by developing and maintaining the project cost systems, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, tracking and reporting project performance, and proactively providing cost control solutions.

Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain the project cost management system that provides the project specific cost breakdown structure and time phased cost distribution in line with the project estimate and schedule
- Validate and ensure that the cost system is updated on a regular basis; incurred, forecast and commitment values are accurate; all the changes and trends are properly analyzed and incorporated
- Issue project cost reports with thorough analysis on a weekly basis; work closely with the project team and keep them aware of project incurred cost, cost performance values, final forecast, commitments, cost overruns, changes, trends, etc.
- Work with supply management and vendors to track purchase orders and contracts; work with engineering, fabrication and construction contractors to update incurred cost, forecast cost, commitments and change requests on a regular basis
- Work with project team to develop the project specific annual budget
What You Bring to the Role:
- 5-7 years of cost control experience managing capital projects in the oil and gas industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, invoicing and financial systems, and other Microsoft Office programs
- Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
- Cost Management Certification (CCP or others) is considered an asset
