Surface Maintenance Planner

Role Overview
As the Surface Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating detailed maintenance plans for camps, residential accommodations, surface buildings, infrastructure, and utilities across the Island Gold District. Using SAP as the primary CMMS, you will ensure work orders are fully planned, resources are forecast appropriately, preventive maintenance programs are optimized, and maintenance activities are ready for safe and efficient execution. This role directly supports asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Develop short- and long-term maintenance plans in SAP for camps, accommodations, and surface infrastructure. Create detailed job plans outlining labour, materials, tools, permits, drawings, access requirements, and safety controls.
Preventive Maintenance Optimization: Maintain, review, and improve preventive maintenance programs within SAP, including task lists, frequencies, and maintenance strategies to improve asset reliability.
SAP Work Management: Convert maintenance notifications into execution-ready SAP work orders with clear scopes, job steps, and resource requirements. Manage backlog health, asset hierarchy accuracy, and work order priorities. Utilize SAP reporting to support KPI tracking, schedule compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordination & Communication: Work closely with supervisors, superintendents, safety, environmental, supply chain teams, and contractors. Lead daily and weekly planning meetings and clearly communicate job sequencing, risk controls, and requirements through SAP documentation and planning packages.
Materials, Procurement & Cost Control: Identify material requirements early, create SAP reservations and purchase requisitions, track delivery status, and adjust plans based on availability. Provide labour and cost estimates to support budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
Safety & Compliance: Integrate safety requirements, hazard controls, and regulatory obligations into job plans and preventive maintenance tasks. Ensure SAP documentation supports inspection, environmental, and life-safety compliance while promoting safe execution through thorough planning and field verification.
What You Bring to the Table
- Technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience in facilities, mechanical, electrical, or building systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance planning, facilities maintenance, or site services.
- Strong proficiency in SAP PM/EAM, including work management, preventive maintenance optimization, task lists, material reservations, and reporting.
- Solid understanding of work management fundamentals such as planning, scheduling, estimating, and asset management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Canadian driver’s licence with a clear driving abstract.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Assets:
- Experience in remote, industrial, or mining camp environments.
- Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, boilers, fire protection, and electrical distribution.
- Familiarity with shutdown, outage, or contractor coordination planning.

Working Conditions
- Rotation: 4 days on / 3 days off (day shift only).
- Position is subject to callouts as required.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based planning role with site visits to surface facilities as required.
Travel & Accommodation
- Site-based role within the Island Gold District; accommodations provided as applicable.
Salary: $87,750 CAD - $133, 850 CAD
