Food For Thought Catering

Although I did work with great people who enjoyed having me around, I don't believe I can handle the craziness of a kitchen. I enjoy constant work but I almost felt defeated as a dishwasher, as soon as I cleaned something , it was dirty again. I did get to change positions every now and then, I became in charge or preparing cold foods like sandwiches etc. Even with that however, I felt extremely pressured. I also got a chance to work as a server for an event, and enjoyed that thoroughly. I felt that I had done an excellent job at the event and presented myself in a courteous and pleasant manner. In the end however, just as the company was busy, it became very slow and my hours were decreasing. Although I did not excel in this company I have not given up and continue to do my best in whatever comes my way.

a typical day at food for thought is unorganized chaos. being insulted and yelled at by the chef for making minor mistakes due to do the pressure and hostile environment that he creates. i’ve witness the chef truly insult every single one of his staff members and then say it’s not personal. don’t expect anything out of this company but trauma. 

A typical day would involve some prep work and quick trips throughout the area. I learned that family-run businesses have quite a bit of problems, like discrepancies in payroll, having to continuously ask for a day-by-day schedule and no constructive feedback.

The other prep cooks were sweet

The very nice boss personally trained me and helped me learn how to manage my time, be versatile in doing different tasks around the kitchen and other areas of the job such as delivering food.

I've worked for several catering companies during my culinary career and from the management to all the staff, FFT was the best group of people to work with.

Amazing Management. With a good salary. I loved my job very much, i was a prep cook and also did general kitchen work. Friendly co-workers and boss. I learned many new techniques for being a prep cook.

Feels like you are all alone, everyone is very serious and there is no proper sanitation on some of workers. When you are trying to do whag you have learned somewhere else but they don’t accept your opinion

Love working here.  Great group of people to work with. Lots of new faces every summer to work with. Great staff parties through the year.
Very busy during peak season.
