The hardest part of the job:
The most challenging part of this job included no air conditioner in the food building, not the best management, and the rushes that our booth had at certain times. We always had on and off days where the manager wasn't having the best day and would take it out on the workers or there was a big event going on so there were huge crowds on certain days. Another hard part of the job was that some days the shift lasted 12 hours.

The most enjoyable part of this job was that the booth I was in made desserts. Since event foods owns 5 other booths, we get a good selection of places where we can eat. Another good thing was that workers were able to get into the CNE for free. Since the CNE is an exhibition, after or before shifts workers got to go to the shops or the attractions or go eat interesting food.

This job is slow-paced and the scheduling offered to casual laborers is very flexible. Although I only make an hourly minimum wage ($14), the work itself is not hard to do. 

A typical day at work for a casual laborer usually involves picking up trash off the grounds or cleaning and restocking the washrooms. 

I learned that the forepersons at Exhibition Place do a good job assigning tasks for the day to each person or team. A lot of waste is removed at Exhibition Place and disposed of either as recycling or trash.

The people who work there are friendly, but the older staff there can be a bit jaded at times. Other than a few slackers the staff do their jobs well and are willing to help each other out. 

The best part about this job are the variety of events scheduled there. Staff can enter shows for free (even if only to clean in the case of concerts or sports games). The hardest part about this job is dealing with nasty messes left behind by visitors who don't care about properly disposing of their waste.

The feeling of being nothing more than just nameless, faceless worker is very present: upper management to foremen, and foremen to workers. It's not that bad depending on who is above you, but there's been many times where I was called out for not working even though there was nothing to actually do, an expectation of business perhaps caused by the location.

The benefits that you get as an employee are minimal, at least officially, breakrooms have normal priced vending machines and that's about it. That being said, other people working in different branches, ride operators, food vendors, etc might spot you a drink or a free ride, but if that doesn't rev your engine, that's too bad.

Not much to say really, its a summer job meant for students, benefits and friendly people above you are not to be expected, but that also means that not too much is expected of you.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Excellent staff, very professional in their work, education, respect, there is no discrimination. It is a pleasant environment, without a doubt it is a place where you breathe human dignity.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Making your work stand out, so that there is no error because you work with exact hours and minutes in each event

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent, Detail, respect, and great human values ​​are cultivated among your colleagues, teamwork is carried out, there is collaboration between departments, and work is carried out with great professionalism.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There is no day the same, we are not invaded by routine, there is always work to check, monitor, there is a positive attitude in solving the problems that arise.

Working at Exhibition Place as a Security Officer allows many opportunities to meet new people each day of diverse backgrounds, while enjoying numerous events that takes place throughout the property, while ensuring the safety and  movements for all individuals. 

As an employee as Exhibition Place, I also enjoy and look forward each shift to work as a member of team, where reliability, honesty and trust are required to achieve mandate goals to provide Security and Customer Service accordingly.

As a Security Officer at Exhibition Place Security, I have developed the confidence to interact with the public confidently and skills to deescalate situations for peaceful resolutions.

When I was at the CNE I learned how to work with others, lead people, and give customer support. I was trained in various facets of the workplace and helped with whatever problems I was unsure of how to tackle at the time. The hardest part of the job was adjusting to the long hours where nothing would happen (common when assigned to a single bathroom). The most enjoyable part of the job was when I helped customers solve their unique issues and seeing their gratitude after receiving help, it was very heartwarming. Overall it was a wonderful first job experience.

Many people of all ages look to work for The Exhibition Place, offering an open window of fun and new experiences for new employees, and utmost respect for veteran workers. Although the workplace mainly opens for seasonal events, every workday poses a unique outlook for all employees to overcome. At The Exhibition Place, it's not all about working for hourly pay, but to also look forward to working with new friends, which overall reflects on the attraction and great productivity of the workplace.

you just clock in get a brief run down of what you're going to be doing for the day and if you want to be productive you do what you're told. i learned how to work on my own and how to stay clean. i was always working with new people on a weekly to monthly basis. the hardest part of the job was tolerating the patrons, although you get used to it very quickly. the most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people and learning new methods of housekeeping that could be used in everyday life outside of work.

I worked there as a contractor for a set period, but it was during a busy period where there was a lot of active work to be done. During this time it wasn't unusual to work 10's of thousands of steps considering the size of the place and working together with others to plan out and set-up wifi and connectivity for the event area was a regular and expected job expectation. If you want to have a job physically setting up equipment and working together with others feel free to apply!

A typical day at work require much preparation for the many different trade shows and conferences that may be going on at the time.
