Position Overview
The Instructor and Discipline Lead position is responsible for delivering on-line, hybrid, or in-person classes that are engaging, high-quality instruction that promotes student success while ensuring compliance with Ontario Ministry requirements and Academy of Learning Inc. academic standards.
The incumbent creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment, facilitates student engagement, assesses learner progress, and maintains accurate academic records. This role contributes to academic excellence by delivering curriculum effectively, supporting student achievement, and continuously improving instructional practices.
Additionally, this individual represents their discipline by working with industry partners, Advisory Committees, and hiring partners to promote our students and grow our programs.

Responsibilities
1. Instruction & Course Delivery
- Deliver instruction using approved curriculum, lesson plans, and learning resources.
- Facilitate engaging classroom, virtual, or blended learning experiences.
- Apply adult learning principles to support diverse learning styles.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and professional learning environment.
- Encourage student participation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Ensure instruction aligns with program learning outcomes.
2. Student Success
- Support students throughout their learning journey.
- Monitor attendance, participation, and academic progress.
- Provide timely academic guidance and constructive feedback.
- Identify students requiring additional support and refer them to appropriate services.
- Promote student motivation, confidence, and success.
3. Assessment & Evaluation
- Develop and administer assessments in accordance with academic policies.
- Grade assignments, quizzes, projects, and examinations accurately and fairly.
- Provide timely feedback to students.
- Maintain assessment records and documentation.
- Ensure academic integrity throughout the evaluation process.
4. Academic Administration
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Submit grades and required academic documentation within established deadlines.
- Keep student records confidential.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems (Canvas) effectively.
- Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Comply with all institutional policies and academic procedures.
- Maintain instructional practices that meet Ontario Private Career College requirements.
- Participate in academic audits and quality assurance activities.
- Complete all mandatory compliance and professional development training.
- Maintain required professional qualifications where applicable.
6. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Program Managers, Academic Operations, and fellow instructors.
- Represent the college externally with program partners, advisory committees, and hiring fairs
- Play a key role in new program ideation and content innovation
- Participate in faculty meetings and training sessions.
- Share instructional best practices.
- Contribute to curriculum improvements when requested.
- Support continuous enhancement of the student learning experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Must meet the instructor qualification requirements established under the Ontario Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 and Ontario Regulation 415/06, including the appropriate combination of education, occupational experience, professional credentials, or recognized equivalencies required for the assigned program.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in business analysis, strategic planning, project management, business operations, corporate strategy execution, or a related field.
Experience:
- Relevant industry experience related to the assigned program.
- Previous teaching, facilitation, mentoring, or workplace training experience is preferred.
- Experience teaching adult learners is considered an asset.
- Experience in post-secondary or Private Career College education is preferred.

- Salary: $50.00 per hour. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
