Full job description

Perlin Bal Figol LLP is a boutique litigation, real estate, corporate, employment law firm seeking litigation legal assistants to join its growing team.

Litigation legal assistants will be expected to manage lawyers’ calendars, schedule meetings and calls. The role involves assisting with client intake and due diligence, coordinating with clients and counsel for calls, scheduling court hearings, reviewing court procedures, rules and practice directions, filing electronic and physical documents, reviewing and formatting documents, compiling motion records, affidavit of documents, and various briefs, arrange for service of court documents and drafting and mailing letters and legal forms, along with other administrative tasks.

The litigation practice is fast-paced, operates under tight deadlines, and can be high pressure. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for contributing to the firm’s growth. There will be significant opportunities for advancement into a managerial or team-lead position. As such, the ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise, judgment, and independence to become an integrated member of the team of this growing law firm. We want the ideal candidate to lean into the role and take initiative.

Candidates can expect a high pressure and busy environment given the nature of the work and number of files. Thus, the expectation of the candidate is to consistently deliver high quality work-product and be accountable to the team. The firm encourages a solution-focused (not problem-driven) approach to dealing with complications or issues that may arise on files. It is important for the candidate to be dependable and willing to take instructions. Working well with others is a must, since many of the firm’s files require a team approach.

Aptitude, positive attitude and attention to detail are minimum qualities expected for this role.

Further, the firm is keen on its members learning and developing professionally, and so there are opportunities that may become available depending on the aptitude of the candidate and their willingness to take constructive feedback. Our firm prefers to hire within, and we have a proven history of internal advancement. For example, the firm has a history of advancing legal assistants into paralegal or articling positions as students-at-law.

Please note that candidates are required to be present in the office. Working from home is not permitted for this role.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year plus benefits

Additional pay:

Bonus pay, at the discretion of the partners.
