Reporting to Wuxly's Head of Industrial Design, the Product Developer will lead the development of innovative apparel, tactical equipment, and advanced textile products from concept through production. Working closely with design, sourcing, manufacturing, and external partners, this role transforms customer requirements and emerging technologies into scalable, high-performance solutions that meet rigorous quality, regulatory, and operational standards across defence, government, and consumer markets.

What You’ll Get Up To
Product Development
- Lead end-to-end development of apparel, tactical equipment, soft goods and textile-based products.
- Translate customer requirements, technical specifications and performance objectives into production-ready products.
- Develop and manage BOMs, technical specifications, construction details and product documentation.
- Coordinate samples, fit reviews, prototype evaluations and product testing.
- Drive product improvements using test results, manufacturing feedback and customer input.
Project Management
- Manage multiple development projects while maintaining timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Coordinate Design, Sourcing, Production, Quality, Engineering and external manufacturing partners.
- Track milestones and proactively address risks, bottlenecks and development priorities.
- Support new product introductions through production readiness and commercialization.
Materials & Supply Chain
- Source and evaluate fabrics, trims, hardware and advanced textile technologies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify innovative materials and manufacturing solutions.
- Support vendor qualification and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Balance customer specifications, performance, manufacturing capability and cost.
Technical Development & Testing
- Participate in pattern reviews, construction optimization and manufacturability assessments.
- Coordinate product testing, validation and field evaluations.
- Analyze performance data and implement product improvements.
- Support compliance with applicable military, government and industry specifications.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 processes.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Improve development processes, cost efficiency and production scalability.
AI & Digital Innovation
- Use AI responsibly to improve research, specifications, documentation and workflow efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and human oversight.
- Support adoption of digital tools that improve development speed and collaboration.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Product Development, Apparel Design, Industrial Design, Textile Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline.
- 4-8 years of experience in product development, apparel, soft goods, technical textiles or manufacturing.
- Experience managing products through the complete development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, materials, manufacturing methods and product specifications.
- Excellent organizational, project-management, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Software & Digital Tools
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform.
- Experience with product documentation, project-management and collaborative development tools.
- Ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve research, documentation and development efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical outerwear, tactical equipment, military apparel, soft goods or performance products.
- Advanced textiles, extreme cold-weather systems, shelters or concealment products.
- Product testing, field evaluation and regulated specification compliance.
- Canadian and/or international manufacturing experience.
- Defence, Government or other regulated product-development experience.
