Position Details:
Position Title: Dietitian
Position Type: Part-time temporary (0.8 FTE)
Location: Southwood Care Centre
Hours of Work: 0830- 1615
This position is temporary until approximately October, 2027
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and a graduate of an approved dietetic internship.
- Registered Dietitian with current membership in the Canadian Dietetic Association and Alberta Registered Dietitians Association.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in Dietetics, preferably within a long term care facility.
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service for residents.
- Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service for residents.
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.
- Ability to function as an effective team member with other staff, residents, families, and the public.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

Key Responsibilities:
A. Food Service Program Delivery & Nutritional Care
- Responsible for the provision of food service programs based on the assessed needs of the current customer population. Services shall include, but are not limited to:
- Nutritional assessments and care plans
- Therapeutic diets
- Nourishments (special and routine)
- Five‑week cyclical menu planning
- Ethnic foods
- Nutritional counseling
- Education programs
B. Assessment, Documentation, and Care Planning
- Complete InterRAI MDS assessment elements as appropriate for the discipline.
- Participate in the review of triggered of RAPS and development of the resident care plan consistent with the Collaborative Care Model.
- Documents assessments, interventions, and evaluations/outcomes as required on the resident’s health care record.
C. Quality Assurance, Consultation, & Community Resources
- Evaluates the services provided by the Food Services Department, including but not limited to:
- Efficiency of the meal service and delivery
- Quality of food provided
- Maintains an awareness of community resource/services and facilitates access to such services as required by facility customers.
- Functions as a consultant within all Intercare facilities as required.
D. Education & Organizational Participation
- Works with Education Services in planning, organizing, and implementing in‑service education for Food Service staff.
- Participates in project teams, committees, and meetings as required and is responsible for reading minutes and memorandums provided to their team
E. Teamwork & Collaboration
- Demonstrates respect to all customers, by working with them in a calm, courteous manner.
- Cooperates and willingly assists other staff and facility customers.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the written policies and procedures of the Employer, the facility and the Therapeutic Services Department.
- Accepts responsibility for the performance results of their work teams and works in partnership with individuals and groups of employees (teams) to improve services for our customers.

G. Health & Safety
- Understand and adhere to all organizational health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the corporate Health and Safety policy.
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains the work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Reports unsafe, hazardous working conditions and/or any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate person/department.
- Participate in required health and safety training and initiatives to maintain compliance and promote workplace safety.
- Understand and adheres to fire responsibilities as outlined in the Corporate Fire Response Manual.
