SUMMARY

The role of a Senior Architectural Technologist is integral within architectural firms, blending advanced technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. Senior Technologists oversee all technical aspects of architectural projects, providing guidance to junior technologists and collaborating closely with Architects to uphold design integrity and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations. They are pivotal in the preparation and meticulous review of detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documents, proficiently utilizing advanced Revit. Beyond technical proficiency, Senior Architectural Technologists excel in project coordination, adeptly managing timelines, budgets, and client expectations. With extensive experience in architectural and construction standards, they offer valuable insights into building systems, materials, and sustainable design practices. Their leadership qualities shine through mentoring and training junior staff, fostering team collaboration, and effectively communicating project requirements to stakeholders. Senior Architectural Technologists play a crucial role in project success by maintaining exceptional standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring every aspect of the architectural vision is realized to the highest standards.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Lead the development of detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for architectural projects.
Oversee the coordination of all technical aspects of projects, ensuring that designs are properly translated into buildable and compliant construction documents.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery from design through to construction completion.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams on technical matters.
Produce and oversee the production of high-quality, accurate construction drawings, plans, and details using advanced software such as Revit.
Lead the development of detailed sections, elevations, and construction details to ensure that designs are fully documented and ready for construction.
Ensure that all design solutions adhere to building codes, regulations, and industry standards, addressing complex technical issues as they arise.
Develop and refine project specifications for materials, finishes, and construction techniques.
Ensure that all designs and technical documentation comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
Lead the preparation and submission of permit applications and other regulatory documents to the appropriate authorities.
Stay informed about changes in building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards, ensuring that all projects remain compliant.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate architectural technologists, supporting their professional growth and ensuring high standards of technical quality.
Lead team meetings and project reviews, providing technical expertise and ensuring that all work adheres to the firm’s standards.
Establish and maintain high standards of quality across all technical work, ensuring that documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and fully aligned with the design intent.
Implement quality control processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across all project deliverables.
Review and approve the work of junior staff to ensure it meets project requirements and industry standards.

CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS

Advanced proficiency in Revit for drafting and design.
8+ years of architectural production experience
Expertise in preparing and reviewing detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction standards.
Effective project management skills, including timeline and budget management.
Experience in coordinating and integrating technical information with project teams and stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Ability to conduct thorough building code reviews and ensure compliance in technical documentation.
Problem-solving skills to address complex architectural and construction challenges.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency in all project phases.
Capacity to make independent decisions and supervise project documentation processes.
