Project Coordinator – Heavy Civil Construction
Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia | Full-Time
Turn Plans Into Progress
Successful construction projects depend on more than good plans. They require clear communication, accurate information and someone who can keep the details moving in the right direction.
Harbour Construction is hiring a Project Coordinator to join our team in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. This is a field-based position supporting a large heavy civil construction project involving mass excavation, earthworks, grading, foundations, flatwork and site development.
This is the kind of project that can shape a career. If you already have solid civil construction experience and are ready for more responsibility, this is an opportunity to make your mark, take ownership of meaningful work and build hands-on experience that will stand out throughout your career.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Engineers, Surveyors, Foremen, subcontractors and suppliers. You will help keep drawings, schedules, quantities, costs, documentation and field activities aligned so the project team can make informed decisions and keep the work moving.
This is a hands-on position for someone who can organize priorities, identify missing information, resolve routine issues and keep project documentation moving with limited supervision.
What You’ll Take Ownership Of
As our Project Coordinator, you will:
- Independently manage assigned coordination, documentation, tracking and follow-up responsibilities.
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with the day-to-day coordination of project activities.
- Maintain current project drawings, specifications, revisions and construction documents.
- Distribute updated project information to the appropriate field teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare, track and follow up on requests for information, submittals, shop drawings and other technical documentation.
- Follow RFIs, submittals, project changes and outstanding action items through to completion.
- Support project scheduling, short-term planning and coordination of upcoming work.
- Anticipate upcoming project requirements and take action without waiting for constant direction.
- Track project quantities, production information, progress measurements and completed work.
- Assist with earthwork quantities, cut-and-fill information, trucking records and material tracking.
- Support cost tracking, purchase orders, commitments, invoices and project forecasting.
- Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, changes, deficiencies, inspections and project correspondence.
- Assist with identifying, documenting and tracking changes in scope or site conditions.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes and follow up on outstanding action items.
- Coordinate with Surveyors and field teams to ensure current layout, as-builts and quantity information are available.
- Work with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to coordinate materials, equipment and project requirements.
- Support quality-control inspections, testing documentation, deficiency tracking and corrective-action follow-up.
- Maintain daily reports, progress photographs and organized project records.
- Help prepare progress reports and project updates for management and clients.
- Support the collection and organization of as-built information and project closeout documentation.
- Participate in project meetings, site walks and planning discussions.
- Identify missing information, potential conflicts and upcoming project needs before they affect the work.
- Support compliance with project safety, quality and environmental requirements.

- Can recognize when information is missing, inconsistent or outdated.
- Take accurate notes and maintain reliable project records.
- Remain organized and professional when priorities change.
- Know when to resolve an issue independently and when it needs to be escalated.
