Program Coordinator, Newcomer Services –Full Time, Salaried Position - Remote/Hybrid Avalon Peninsula
Wage Range: $52,500/yr (Pending Funding)

The YMCA has been part of life in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1854. Our charity’s core programs of Health, Fitness, and Aquatics; Child Care and Day Camp; and Employment, Enterprise, and Newcomer Services are offered at more than 200 locations and points of delivery in our communities throughout the province. Our focus on inclusiveness and accessibility means we serve people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through all stages of life.

Join Our Team

We are seeking a Program Coordinator, Newcomer Services to engage with local newcomers and their families to facilitate participation and support integration into the communities. The Coordinator will be responsible for organizing/facilitating group activities for newcomers that support; healthy living for all ages with special emphasis on seniors and youth; improving English language skills, community connections through group outings and community events; youth leadership and intergenerational activities. This is a remote/hybrid contract position pending funding based out of St. John's at the Ches Penney Family YMCA with an expected end date of March 31, 2027 with the possibility of extension.

Job Requirements

undergraduate Degree in Education, Social Work, Social Sciences or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Minimum two years of relevant experience in a lead role
Experience working with community partners in a developmental role
Experience working with newcomers in a recreational/community setting
Experience in facilitating sports, fitness or group programs
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sectors Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
