Full job description

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Software Developer - Full Stack for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier full-stack software engineering capacity, specializing in designing, developing, and optimizing end-to-end web applications, microservices architectures, and cloud-native solutions.

As a senior full-stack developer, you will bridge the gap between intuitive user interfaces, performant backend API services, and cloud infrastructure platforms. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will translate technical system specifications into clean, reusable code, build Azure serverless functions and event-driven messaging pipelines, write complex SQL queries, and enforce security and accessibility baselines. This position is ideal for an experienced Microsoft stack authority who can diagnose complex performance bottlenecks, mentor team members, and deliver reliable software within an Agile environment.

Location: Toronto, ON

Assignment Type: Hybrid (2 days per week onsite at manager's discretion)

Contract Duration: 6-month contract (with potential option to extend)

Responsibilities
Translate complex technical specifications into performant, clean, and fully tested front-end and back-end application features.

Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, Azure Web APIs, and internal NuGet code libraries.

Architect and implement serverless Azure Functions and event-driven messaging solutions utilizing Azure Service Bus.

Build responsive, intuitive, and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS (LESS/SASS), JavaScript frameworks, and modern UI libraries.

Design, optimize, and maintain relational database objects, stored procedures, and complex queries using SQL Server.

Evaluate application architectures, formulate technical design options, and present recommendations to product leads.

Perform automated unit testing, debugging, and continuous integration checks to maintain platform quality standards.

Diagnose, triage, and resolve complex functional bugs and performance bottlenecks across development and production environments.

Partner with Operations and UI/UX teams to ensure smooth application deployments, interface consistency, and environment stability.

Author comprehensive code documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for internal engineering teams.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Stack
Full-Stack Development Experience: 5 to 8+ years of hands-on experience developing front-end interfaces, server-side APIs, and backend database layers.

Microsoft .NET Stack Mastery: 5 to 8+ years of expert-level development experience using C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and ASP.NET MVC.

Microsoft Azure Cloud: 5 to 8+ years of hands-on experience developing within Azure environments, specifically using Azure Functions and Azure Service Bus.

Web & Database Technologies: 5 to 8+ years of experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST/JSON/XML APIs, OAuth 2.0, and expert-level SQL development.

Agile & Azure DevOps: 5 to 8+ years of experience embedded within Agile delivery teams using Azure DevOps and version control tools (Git, TFVC).

Preferred Experience & Assets
Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.

Accessibility & Security: Knowledge of digital accessibility regulations (AODA, WCAG 2.0 guidelines) and web security best practices.

Healthcare Data Standards: Exposure to health data standards such as HL7 and FHIR is considered an asset.

Public Sector Context: Prior experience working within public sector environments is preferred.

Soft Skills & Professional Attributes
Verbal Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical designs clearly to multi-disciplinary teams.

Problem Solving & Adaptability: Creative, solution-oriented mindset with high attention to detail and strong multi-tasking abilities under tight deadlines.
