Part-Time Bookkeeper

Location: Etobicoke, Ontario
Job Type: Part-time, on-site
Schedule: 8am-2pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
Compensation: $18.43-$20

Job Summary

Hong Kong Bean Sprout and Trading is a growing food manufacturing and wholesale company seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, accurate, and comfortable managing day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities in a fast-paced, hands-on business environment. Experience working with a manufacturing, food production, distribution, or wholesale company is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
Record and maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries
Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Review bank statements and investigate discrepancies
Manage accounts payable, including processing, coding, and recording supplier invoices
Match supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery records, and statements
Reconcile vendor accounts and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time
Manage accounts receivable, including recording customer payments and following up on outstanding balances
Prepare invoices, credit memos, and account statements as required
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
Prepare accurate records and supporting schedules for tax filings
Assist with HST, payroll, WSIB, EHT, and other government remittance preparation, as applicable
Coordinate with the company’s external accountant and provide requested financial records
Assist with financial reporting, expense tracking, and cash-flow monitoring
Communicate with suppliers, customers, financial institutions, and internal team members when necessary
Perform other bookkeeping and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required
Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly reconciliations, and general bookkeeping procedures
Experience preparing financial records for tax filings and external accountants
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Fluent spoken and written English is required for business communication
Cantonese and/or Mandarin language skills are considered a strong asset
Experience navigating BMO online business banking is an asset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently while collaborating with management and external accounting professionals
