About the Role

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate After-School Program Facilitator to lead our BIG Horizons After-School Program.

The After-School Program Facilitator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering engaging programming for children ages 6–14. This role creates a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where youth can build confidence, develop social and life skills, and form meaningful connections through mentorship-based programming.

Working closely with the Program Coordinator, volunteers, and community partners, the Facilitator plays a key role in delivering high-quality programming while ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive experience of every participant.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging after-school programming for youth ages 6–14.
Facilitate Mentor Hour, group activities, STEM projects, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and special events.
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that encourages confidence, belonging, and personal growth.
Build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, mentors, and community partners.
Support youth emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and positive behaviour using age-appropriate strategies.
Communicate with families regarding attendance, daily updates, incidents, and participant needs.
Complete attendance, documentation, and program updates using Lilio and other organizational systems.
Ensure child protection standards, safety procedures, and organizational policies are consistently followed.
Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces.
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and staff to continuously improve programming and participant experiences.
Assist with PD Day programming, school breaks, summer programming, community events, fundraising initiatives, and other agency activities as required.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Child & Youth Care, Recreation, or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent education and experience working with children and youth will be considered.
Minimum two years of experience working with children or youth is considered an asset.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Current First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (required).
Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
