Full job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Department Manager to lead our Structures Division in a Sea-Can/Container modifications environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales & business development background, coupled with leadership skills, estimating/quoting, negotiation, construction and/or manufacturing management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves overseeing daily operations of the Secure-Rite Structures Division.

Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development:

Maintain operational reports and assist in budgeting or cost control measures as needed
Identify and explore new business opportunities
Create and send quotes/estimates to potential clients
Handle inbound inquiries regarding modified containers
Create sales documentation required to finalize deals
Responsible for hunting and farming new and existing client base relationships

Leadership:

Coach team members, set performance targets, and conduct regular performance reviews
Prepare and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure alignment and proper team development
Ensure all necessary government and industry compliance standards are actively met
Provide regular updates, reports, and data analysis to senior leadership regarding departmental progress
Prepare, manage, and forecast the department’s budget+
Coordinate with other departments to resolve issues and achieve broader organizational targets

Marketing:

Work with the Marketing Department to identify and explore new business opportunities
Attend and network at key tradeshows each year to represent our modified containers
Local personal selling (cold calls, visiting construction sites, networking through CHBA and SICA, local high-profile events)

Skills

Experience in Sales / Business Development
Proven experience in construction or manufacturing management or leadership roles
Strong knowledge of construction principles
Demonstrated supervising experience with team management capabilities
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically
Effective communication skills for interviewing, training, and team coordination
Use key performance metrics (KPIs) and operating reports to diagnose issues and make informed decisions
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff and foster a positive work environment
