Role Description
The Freezer Worker is responsible for safely and efficiently picking, staging, and organizing frozen goods within the warehouse. This role supports accurate order fulfillment, inventory control, and overall warehouse efficiency while maintaining strict cold storage safety standards.
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Afternoon Shift: Monday – Friday 2:30pm – 11:00pm; hours may vary
Graveyard Shift: Sunday – Thursday 9:30pm – 6:00am; hours may vary
Location: Klondike Cold Storage (Surrey & Langley)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Pick, stage, and prepare orders accurately and efficiently.
- Safely handle frozen products to prevent damage and maintain quality.
- Organize incoming and outgoing shipments to optimize freezer space and workflow.
- Place and withdraw product in freezer locations following company procedures.
- Conduct inspections of shipments to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of freezer, dock, and work areas.
- Work in temperatures ranging from -2°C to 4°C (dock) and -20°C to -35°C (freezer, including wind chill).
- Adhere to all WorkSafeBC, food safety, and cold storage safety requirements.
- Assist with inventory control, including counting, labeling, and stock rotation.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to meet daily
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse and/or cold storage facility experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of safe material handling practices.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physically able to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and standing.
- Comfortable working in cold and freezer environments.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Forklift, reach truck, or pallet jack experience preferred (valid certification an asset).
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Reliable transportation required for the Langley location, as public transit service is limited and may not be available for all shifts.
