Territory Manager – North Alberta
Industrial Safety, Hand Protection & PPE | End-User Demand Generation | Distributor Pull-Through
Bob Dale Gloves (BDG) is looking for a high-energy, self-starting Territory Manager to grow sales across Northern Alberta. This is a field-based sales role for a motivated industrial salesperson who can create end-user demand, build strong distributor relationships, and convert BDG’s on-shelf and available products into repeat orders.
At BDG, protecting people is our top priority. As a North American hand protection and personal protective equipment (PPE) supplier, we have supported distributors and industrial customers for more than 40 years. We are looking for a Territory Manager who understands that safety products are sold by earning trust at the site level, solving real application problems, and following through until the order is fulfilled.
This is not an order-taking role. The successful candidate will be expected to hunt for new business, call directly on end users, generate product trials, create pull-through demand with distributors, and grow the territory with urgency and discipline.
Position Summary
The Territory Manager is responsible for driving business growth in Northern Alberta by developing end-user demand for BDG gloves and PPE products and converting that demand into distributor-fulfilled sales. The role requires a combination of new business development, territory planning, product knowledge, distributor management, and disciplined sales execution.
The ideal candidate is competitive, organized, comfortable walking into industrial environments, and motivated by a lucrative performance-based compensation structure. High-performing salespeople in this type of role should have the opportunity to earn north of $200,000 annually through territory growth, new business development, and repeat account penetration.
Type & Location
· Full-time, permanent role.
· Remote / field-based position, with preference given to candidates located in North Alberta.
· Responsible for North Alberta, with regular travel throughout the territory.
· Overnight and multi-day travel is required.
Core Responsibilities
· Build and execute a territory sales plan focused on new business growth, end-user conversion, and distributor pull-through.
· Prospect and develop end-user accounts across industrial sectors including manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, transportation, warehousing, utilities, food processing, municipalities, and industrial services.
· Call directly on safety managers, procurement teams, operations managers, plant managers, maintenance leaders, site supervisors, and warehouse managers.
· Identify customer needs by application, hazard, glove/PPE usage, purchasing pattern, current supplier, and pain points with existing products.
· Recommend BDG products based on fit, protection, comfort, availability, price competitiveness, and application requirements.
· Conduct product demonstrations, sample drops, product trials, line reviews, and competitive product cross-referencing.
· Convert end-user interest and product trials into fulfilled orders through BDG’s approved distributor partners.
· Work closely with distributors to support joint calls, product education, account penetration, stock conversion, and repeat ordering.
· Prioritize selling BDG products that are currently available and on the shelf, while communicating market demand and stock requirements internally.
· Maintain account profiles and establish relationships across multiple touch points in the customer’s value chain.
· Meet with customers and distributors regularly to discuss opportunities, issues, product performance, plans, and growth initiatives.
· Develop and deliver clear customer presentations to gain buy-in on BDG product recommendations, trials, conversions, and account plans.
· Monitor territory activity, sales pipeline, account compliance, and progress against sales targets.
· Maintain disciplined CRM activity, weekly call plans, pipeline reporting, and sales forecasting.
· Keep current on industry trends, competitor products, distributor activity, and market segment developments.
What Success Looks Like
· You are consistently creating new end-user conversations rather than waiting for distributor orders to arrive.
· You know the major distributors, target end users, high-volume glove/PPE applications, and active opportunities in your territory.
· You are generating product trials, converting trials into orders, and pushing those orders through distributor partners.
· You are growing revenue through disciplined prospecting, follow-up, product knowledge, and account penetration.
· You can clearly explain where your pipeline is, what is likely to close, what is stuck, and what you are doing next.
Experience & Skills Required
· Minimum 3 years of B2B outside sales experience, ideally in industrial distribution, PPE, safety products, MRO, construction supplies, tools, equipment, or related categories.
· Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
· Experience selling to safety managers, procurement teams, operations leaders, plant managers, site supervisors, warehouse managers, or maintenance managers.
· Comfortable prospecting, cold calling, conducting site visits, asking direct questions, and developing new business.
· Experience working with distributor partners and end-user customers at the same time.
· Strong ability to form productive relationships across multiple levels of an organization.
· Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
· Entrepreneurial mindset, competitive drive, and strong personal accountability.
· Excellent time management and territory planning skills.
· Working experience in industrial safety, hand protection, PPE, MRO, or large distributor channels is a strong asset.
· Understanding of sales tools, CRM systems, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and basic sales reporting.
· Must possess a valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel throughout the territory.
· Fluency in English is required.
Candidate Profile
The right candidate is not just a relationship manager. They are a hunter who can create demand in the field, earn trust with safety and operations professionals, and move opportunities through the distributor channel. They are comfortable being measured, motivated by performance-based compensation, and disciplined enough to manage a large territory without constant supervision.
Education
· Sales training, professional sales courses, or equivalent practical sales experience.
· Post-secondary education in business, marketing, supply chain, occupational health and safety, or a related field is an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
· Competitive base salary plus lucrative performance-based commission / bonus structure.
· High-performing Territory Managers have the opportunity to earn north of $200,000 annually.
· Computer and business tools provided.
· Vehicle allowance or travel support.
· Health benefits.
· Paid time off.
· RRSP Matching Program up to 3% of salary after 6 months.
