CNC Programmer / Setup Technician / Operator – Milling & Turning

Location: St. Thomas, Ontario
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Schedule: Day Shift | Overtime Available

We are currently seeking a skilled CNC Programmer / Setup Technician / Operator to join our team.

Position Summary

The CNC Programmer / Setup Technician / Operator is responsible for programming, setup, operation, and optimization of CNC milling and turning equipment to produce precision-machined components that meet customer specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical machining knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience working in a precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program, setup, and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
Develop and optimize machining processes for efficiency and quality
Select tooling, workholding, and cutting parameters
Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program-related issues
Maintain dimensional accuracy and adherence to tight tolerances
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to achieve production goals
Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards
Maintain organized work areas and equipment

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience with CNC milling and turning operations
Strong understanding of G-code programming and/or CAM software
Ability to independently complete machine setups and program adjustments
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T
Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC controls
Experience with prototype, custom, or short-run production
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
