Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our employees work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.

Reporting to the Manager of Train Operations, the Field Supervisor, Train Operations will be responsible for providing field-level oversight across the Regional Rail commuter system operating in Southern Ontario. Working out of an outpost facility, this role will support safe, compliant and on-time passenger rail operations through active monitoring, verification and reporting to our clients supervisory team.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensure crews report on time, fit for duty, in uniform, with PPE
Confirm job briefings before operations, yard movements or any switching activity are performed
Verify compliance with CROR and safety rules
Oversee switch lining, confirm train routes, and support yard staff operations to ensure safe and efficent arrival and departure
Maintain visible field presence, identify safety risks, and promote safety culture
Provide daily reports on compliance and issues
Escalate any critical issues to appropriate management immediately

Requirements

Completed Secondary School and possess an OSSD or GED
Previous experience leading or conducting train operations within a yard
Valid CROR
Prior experience as a Locomotive Engineer; 5 years experience working in the rail industry; experience as a Railway Supervisor, Trainmaster or Superintendent will also be considered
Strong English communication skills
Available to work at an outpost located in Kitchener, Barrie, Stouffville, Oshawa, Richmond Hill or Milton.

Contract Details

Hourly rate - $60.00 - $75.00 based on previous level of train operations experience
3 month contract starting June 8th
Must be available for split shifts
