Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital, a community health hub in Midland, and offers outpatient programs across the Central Ontario region that provide specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care.
Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Fund Development Department at Waypoint is seeking an organized and enthusiastic temporary full-time student. The student will have the unique opportunity to support Waypoint’s mission of advancing mental health, addiction, and specialized geriatric care while gaining valuable experience in event planning, fundraising, and donor engagement. The student will assist with the planning and execution of events, donor stewardship activities, and fundraising initiatives. The opportunity is designed to build adaptability, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, while providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events, including fundraising events, community outreach activities, and donor recognition events.

Assist team members with adapting event plans in response to changing circumstances, timelines, or priorities.

Support project coordination activities including timelines, meeting coordination, supply management, and event preparation.

Support the development of promotional materials, including invitations, event programs, and signage.

Support Communications team with event promotion through social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms.

Assist in the creation of digital and print communications, including social media posts, event materials, and other event promotion materials.
-
Support team members with communication strategies for events and related initiatives.

Assist with event logistics, including venue coordination, vendor communication, and volunteer scheduling.

Provide on-site event support, such as welcoming guests, coordinating activities, and troubleshooting any challenges that arise.

Support donor stewardship efforts by assisting with donor communications, tracking contributions, and maintaining accurate records in fundraising databases.

Analyze post-event feedback and data to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to event evaluations and future planning.

Apply creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative fundraising ideas and enhance donor engagement strategies.

Support fundraising database maintenance activities, including data entry, donor record updates, and ongoing data integrity initiatives.

Assist with importing, organizing, and tracking event attendee and donor information to support fundraising and stewardship activities.

Assist with donor data cleaning and quality assurance projects to ensure accurate, complete, and up-to-date constituent records.

Identify and organize compelling images and visual assets for use in fundraising campaigns, donor communications, stewardship and impact reporting.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration in a University or College program required

Interest, experience, or demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas:Event Logistics: Familiarity with planning and organizing events like galas, auctions, or bake sales.
- Fundraising: Experience with raising money through campaigns, online platforms, or event planning.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to engage donors and volunteers.
- Volunteer Experience: Some experience volunteering or participating in fundraising efforts.
- Knowledge of Non-Profit Organizations or Charities: Familiarity with the goals, financial needs, and work of non-profits.
- Donor Engagement: Understanding how to connect with donors, build relationships, and solicit donations.
- Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal and organizational skills to manage tasks, timelines and event details

Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact positively with donors, volunteers, community partners, and team members throughout the organization.
