Full job description

About the Position:

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for sending sampling supplies to clients, as well as receiving laboratory supplies and samples from vendors and clients, respectively.

Specific Responsibilities

Receive and unload incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment;
Inspect shipments for damages or defects, records discrepancies and notifies supervisor and/or purchaser;
Evaluate and segregate bottles for proofing protocols
Pre-prepare sample kits (i.e. terracores)
Maintain full bins of sample bottles
Prepare, pack, and ship sample bottle orders and preservatives to clients using appropriate couriers and procedures to ensure items are safely delivered and free of contamination;
Responsible for sample reception, sorting, archiving, and disposal;
Delivery and pick up of samples;
Complete required shipping paperwork and communication with couriers;
Maintain a clean work area;
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading);
Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confident with computers;
Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
Well organized, with proven ability to meet strict deadlines;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;

Required Qualifications

Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
2 years’ experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced environment, with 1 year in shipping/receiving;
Customer service experience is an asset;
Previous Forklift licence/experience is an asset;
Valid provincial Class 5 driver’s licence.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift;
Ability to use lift assist equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks;
