LiftWerx is a specialized wind energy contractor which performs large corrective repairs, mainly using crane-less technology. LiftWerx offers both specialized equipment and experienced personnel to perform corrective repairs on a wide variety of wind turbines. The majority of lifting services are performed using up-tower crane technology, which avoids the high cost and disruption of utilizing large conventional cranes on the ground.

JOB TITLE: Shop Technician (full-time permanent)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Industrial Technician to join our workshop‑based service operation. This role primarily supports in‑shop mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and assembly work on equipment used for major corrective repairs within the wind energy sector. Daily tasks consist of the repair, rebuild, restoration and general maintenance of various equipment such as, but not limited to, cranes, specialized lifting equipment, custom built systems.

The position is predominantly workshop‑focused, with occasional field or site support, including the ability to travel outside of Canada as required to support service activities, inspections, or component exchanges. The successful candidate will demonstrate a lead‑with‑safety mindset, consistently apply safe work practices while delivering efficient, high‑quality results.

LOCATION:

This is an on-site position, based out of our Cambridge, ON office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain industrial mechanical equipment within a workshop environment while adhering to established safety standards
Perform equipment assembly and sub assembly, including the build and rebuild of mechanical components, machinery, and hydraulic and/or electrical systems
Assemble and install components such as bearings, seals, couplings, gearboxes, pumps, shafts, and mechanical drives
Service and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, including but not limited to, pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and pressure systems
Support electrical work such as motor replacement, basic electrical fault finding, and control diagnostics
Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics, drawings, and work instructions
Provide occasional field or site support to assist with service activities
Lead all tasks with safety-first priority, including hazard identification, lockout/tagout, proper PPE use, and adherence to safe work procedures
Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and job site requirements
Operate various material handling equipment, such as overhead cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, or other specialized lifting equipment
Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean organized workspace
Work collaboratively with supervisors, technicians, and apprentices to meet schedules and quality standards
Deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds customer and company expectations

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Education

Millwright/ Electrical Apprentice (any level)
Journeyperson Millwright/ Electrical
Other trades qualifications considered

Experience/Knowledge/Skills

Strong mechanical aptitude in workshop, service, or heavy equipment environments
Hydraulic system experience considered an asset
Electrical knowledge and diagnostic experience considered an asset
Preventive and corrective maintenance experience
Ability to perform accurate mechanical assembly and disassembly
Demonstrated commitment to working safely and promoting a safety-first culture
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in a fast paced, service-oriented shop environment

Time management and task prioritization
Clear communication and teamwork skills with a customer service mindset

Ability to travel internationally, including holding or being eligible to obtain a valid passport and meet travel requirements, as operational needs require
