Purpose:
The Fitter/Welder fits and welds product and parts in a safe and efficient manner. Reading blueprints and following instructions are critical to ensuring quality and on-time delivery of product.
Responsible for Fitter/Welders related equipment, quality control, health and safety and planning within the department and collaborate with internal resources as well as external agents and consultants to meet customers agreed needs and deadlines with a high level of confidentiality and quality.
Reports to Lead Hand Welder and interacts with the Lead Hand Welder and Manager Manufacturing to update, seek guidance and obtain necessary approvals.
Key Position Responsibilities and Duties - will include, but not be limited to:
Operations
- Fitting and welding industrial fans, blowers and related parts according to engineering specifications safely and efficiently - custom fabrication projects.
- Responsible for reading and interpreting drawings and welding appropriate parts with minimal distortion in order to meet specifications and quality standards including reducing rework to zero
- Weld separately or in combination using mild steel, stainless steel and other alloys.
- Maintains quality by performing inspection of paperwork and parts as required and by successfully correcting any distortion.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on various metals, ensuring strong and accurate welds.
- Operate plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and form materials.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring instruments to cut, drill, grind, and assemble components.
- Rigging materials and equipment safely for lifting and positioning heavy parts using cranes (overhead and jib) or forklifts.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Contributing to production times met and/or reduce from set-up to completed tasks
- Utilize measuring tools to verify dimensions per drawings.
- Verify list of materials as per work order prior to set up.
- Monitor inventory of hardware, tools and welding supplies and reorder as necessary.
- ·Safely and efficiently set-up and operate welding, cutting and grinding equipment.

- Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
- Report any accidents, injuries or unsafe working conditions to Management immediately.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ current and relevant welding experience in a manufacturing environment, working on custom welding projects welding various materials.
- Successful completion of secondary school graduation diploma or equivalent.
- Certified CWB welder in GMAW, maintaining certification and increasing number of tickets
- Proven experience in welding (MIG and TIG) with the ability to produce high-quality welds.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, rigging, machining, and assembly.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Ability to operate plasma cutters, press brake machines, hand tools, power tools, and forklift equipment safely.
- Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Attention to the detail and accuracy required to complete job/work orders
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS Regulations.
- Ability to recognize and interpret weld symbols.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
- Works in a production environment where health and safety hazards and risk of injury are always present (temperature, noise, chemicals, machinery, moving vehicles).
- Usually works a standard work week (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday), with occasional overtime hours needed to meet production obligations during specific periods of the business cycle.
- May experience tight deadlines and stressful conditions at times.
- Must be able to manage frequent interruptions and multiple tasks daily.
- May deal with conflict and employee relations issues causing stress at times.
- Attention to detail and visual concentration required which may cause mental and physical strain.
- Spends a frequent amount of time standing and walking daily.
- Must be able to kneel, bend at the waist and reach or push from the shoulders frequently.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
