Who are we looking for?
Melanson Homes & Renovations is seeking a Production Coordinator to join our growing team on a full-time basis. We are looking for a creative professional who wants a company to grow with. As a company built on the foundation of quality construction and process, we are in search of an individual with a proven track record in residential custom home building and renovations and experienced in administration, estimating, selections and/or interior design. What will you do?
Reporting directly to the Production Manager and working with our entire team including sales, design, estimating, administration, and on-site staff teams, you will oversee the in-office construction progress and project schedules, and serve as the liaison between Melanson Homes, clients, and sub-contractors and suppliers. At Melanson, our projects are entirely custom, and you will need to be adaptive and capable of problem solving.
What do you offer?
A minimum of 5 years of successful construction/project management experience in a residential construction environment. Knowledge of scheduling, ordering, selections management, change order management, estimating and budgeting through all phases of construction. Trade and supplier management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide a high level of customer experience.
Must know and be able to operate Office 365 including MS Excel, Word and Outlook, and other software programs such as Buildertrend.
Key Responsibilities
· Work with site superintendent and estimator to identify and resolve problems related to scope, materials, cost and timeline.
· Work with production team as administrative assistant.
· Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers and interior designers.
· Schedule outside contractors and subs as directed by the site superintendent. Responsible for the overall accuracy of construction schedules.
· Read and understand plans, specifications, elevations, schematics, drawings and local building codes, schedules and documents, all required inspections or other compliance requirements.
· Prepare project files for release to field. Pre-construction preparation either through direct involvement during the sales process, or via information once a job is sold, the Project Coordinator develops a complete understanding of the project from available verbal and written information including blueprints and specifications.
· Follow up on customer selections/change orders and ensure all change orders are completed and signed in a timely manner.
· Participate in weekly construction meetings to update on progress, construction schedules, change order status, possession dates and customer concerns.
· Promote customer comfort and satisfaction and display actions signifying concern and respect.
· Meet with customers both on site and in office as required to deliver an overall exceptional client experience.
Required Skills and Experience
· 5+ years of experience in residential custom home building and renovations as a Project or Construction Administrator/ Coordinator.
· 3+ years of experience in the home renovation field including complex home additions.
· Custom home and luxury renovation experience would be considered an asset.
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (construction management, project management) is an asset.
· Experience in computer applications such as Excel, Word, Adobe, and Outlook are required.
· Knowledge of residential construction and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
· Knowledge of Buildertrend would be considered an asset.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team on day-to-day tasks and project to maintain quality service.
· Detail oriented and goal driven.
· Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a multi-faceted work environment.
· Previous experience with job task planning, decision making and problem solving.
· Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
· Knowledge and familiarity with local residential construction industry an asset.
· Knowledge of Alberta Building Codes an asset.
· Self-motivated, proactive, professional, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision or as part of a team.
· Must speak and write fluent English.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
· The hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
· Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time. It is essential to be able to use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, lift at least 25 pounds, handle, touch or feel to perform the essential elements of the function.
· Must see (with corrections) well enough to prepare and read business documents close up and at a distance, with color discrimination. Must be able to adjust focus.
· Must hear well enough (with corrections) to conduct a large amount of business over the telephone.
· Must be able to read, analyze and interpret common documents and budget estimates.
· Able to write well enough to prepare reports, communicate effectively with management as well as employees involved or related to this business.
