Assist in cleaning, inspecting, disassembling and other basic workshop activities Learns Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and follows documented procedures and policies to complete basic repairs and maintenance Assists with completing required documentation, such as work completed documentation and time sheets via handwritten forms or business system input screens Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor

Electrical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards on working with low and/or high voltage by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies basic electrical theories and electronics components knowledge using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.
Electronic Service Tool Application - Identifies the suite of available hardware and software tools required for a service event; utilizes the appropriate electronic tool set to maintain the product or diagnose and troubleshoot an issue; interprets electronic tool results or recommendations to determine next steps for service resolution.
Mechanical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies mechanical principles and theories using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.
Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customers cost of ownership; performs progressive damage check following guidelines to restore to pre-failure condition.
Service Documentation - Creates and verifies customer, equipment and technical information; captures specific data using required service tools; follows procedures and documents required information in the service management system in order to have an accurate record of the work done.
Technical Escalation - Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources including data management tools; elevates issues to a higher level of expertise, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts; captures all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database in order to ensure seamless transitions and accurate response to ticket resolution in a timely manner.

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious In‑Shop Diesel Engine Technician Apprentice to join our service team. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter, safety‑minded, with strong ability to learn and develop the skills to use computer‑based diagnostic tools. This role requires a collaborative team approach while maintaining a high level of individual accountability and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and overhaul diesel engines and related components in a shop environment under the direction of a journeyman
- Utilize QSOL and computer‑based diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic issues
- Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Accurately document work performed, findings, and parts usage using electronic systems
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate effectively with technicians, service advisors, and supervisors to meet quality and productivity targets
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, a great attitude and teamwork mindset
Required Qualifications
- Apprentice Diesel Technician certification (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, emissions systems, and electronic controls
- Proficient with computer‑based diagnostic software and service information systems
- Commitment to workplace safety and best practices
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, team‑oriented mindset and accountability
