Role and Objectives:
As a CNC Operator, you will play a key role in bringing innovative wood products to life by operating and optimizing our new Techno Wood Line CNC. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys precision work, cutting-edge technology, and takes pride in craftsmanship and quality.
In this role, you will operate and monitor CNC equipment to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient production, interpret CAD files and blueprints, perform routine maintenance, and make adjustments to maintain consistent quality. The position also includes hands-on carpentry-related tasks such as material preparation, finishing, fit-up, and quality checks, requiring strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high-quality wood products.
Responsibilities:
CNC Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC machinery with a strong focus on precision, efficiency, and high-quality output.
- Conduct QC on machine‑cut parts to ensure the accuracy of the specified drawings.
- Maintain tooling to ensure high uptime performance together with the Panel Line Supervisor.
- Perform regular inspections of machines to ensure precision accuracy and maintain machine condition.
- Recognize and report machine issues/warnings immediately to the Panel Line Supervisor.
- Ensure precise maintenance of programs and program files.
- Load and unload the machine safely while maximizing offload and reload efficiencies.
- Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintain orderly work, storage areas, and department.
Carpentry & General Production Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate production flow through to meet delivery schedules.
- Perform hands‑on carpentry‑related tasks including material handling, framing support, fit‑up, and finishing as required.
- Train new employees and ensure performance is to standard.
- Report production progress daily.
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; with consideration for applicants with successful completion of a post-secondary program considered an asset.
- Digital Fabrication and Design Diploma is considered an asset
Experience:
- One (1) year(s) minimum experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience as a CNC Operator an asset - preference given to those with woodworking CNC background.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Must be able to use and read all measuring equipment associated with this trade (e.g., calipers, tape measure, squares, etc.)
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and software computer programs.
- Knowledge and experience with Biesse Works and Cambium an asset.
- Knowledge of safe operation of CNC Machines, Cranes, Rigging and Material Handling an asset
- Lumber grading, or wood product knowledge an asset.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, interact well with employees in all departments and have a high degree of attention to detail.
Compensation Package:
- Salary: $33.30 per hour
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
