Structural Engineer (P.Eng) – Intermediate or Senior

Calgary Structural Engineers | Calgary, AB | Full-Time | Hybrid | $80,000 – $130,000/year

Calgary Structural Engineers is a residential structural engineering firm serving homeowners, contractors, and builders throughout Calgary and surrounding communities across Southern Alberta. We specialize in structural design, inspections, and permit-ready engineering for renovations, additions, basement developments, and new residential construction. Our services include load-bearing wall removal assessments, beam and column sizing, foundation evaluations, retaining wall design, and custom structural solutions for decks, garages, and exterior structures.

We focus on delivering practical engineering solutions, clear communication, and dependable service while ensuring every project meets Alberta building codes and long-term structural performance requirements.

We are a growing firm built around professionalism, flexibility, and work-life balance, looking for a self-motivated P.Eng who can work independently and take ownership of projects from initial assessment through final delivery.

The Role

This is a full-time hybrid position based in the Calgary Metropolitan Region. The engineer will work primarily from a home office and must be available Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required for local site visits throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.

Compensation

$80,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and complete detailed calculations for residential projects including renovations, additions, basement developments, and new builds
Prepare and review engineering drawings using CAD software
Conduct on-site inspections throughout Calgary and surrounding communities to assess structural integrity and provide technical recommendations
Complete detailed design work in wood, concrete, and steel for residential and light commercial projects
Framing and timber structure design
Retaining wall design
Screw pile installation verification and conformance reviews (training provided)
Ensure compliance with Alberta building codes and municipal regulations
Collaborate with architects, contractors, homeowners, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with miscellaneous civil and structural engineering tasks as required

Qualifications

Active P.Eng license in Alberta or eligibility for registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
Must reside in the Calgary Metropolitan Region
4–15 years of structural engineering experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a Canadian university
Proficiency in structural analysis, engineering calculations, and CAD software
Familiarity with Alberta Building Code requirements and local municipal permitting processes
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver practical and cost-effective engineering solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Previous experience with residential structures, renovations, additions, or custom homes is considered a strong asset
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
