Our client, a continually growing and well-established public accounting firm located in Bedford, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in a highly visible client-facing role reporting directly to the Partners. This opportunity is initially a maternity leave coverage role, with a strong pathway to permanent placement and long-term growth within the firm. It is ideal for a CPA coming from a small to mid-sized public practice environment who enjoys diverse exposure working with owner-managed businesses and non-profits and is looking for long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Prepare and review Compilation engagement files and financial statements under ASPE
Prepare and review T1 personal, T2 corporate, and other related tax filings
Meet directly with year-end clients to provide accounting, tax, and business advice
Supervise and support bookkeeping team members
Review reconciliations, working papers, and adjusting journal entries
Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines concurrently
Liaise with CRA and other regulatory bodies as required
Identify tax planning opportunities and value-added client solutions
Support onboarding of new clients and cloud-based accounting processes
Contribute to workflow improvements and operational efficiencies
Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team culture

Experience & Attributes for Success:

CPA designation required
Recent public practice experience within a small to mid-sized firm environment
Proficiency with CaseWare/CaseView, TaxPrep or Cantax, QuickBooks Online, and Excel is an asset
Technically strong with sound professional judgment and attention to detail
Client-focused with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Proven ability to take ownership and thrive in a fast-paced public practice environment
Experience mentoring or supervising bookkeeping or junior staff is considered an asset
