About the Role

Integrated Youth Services (IYS) is a service model offering low-barrier access to community-led services for youth aged 12 to 25 and their caregivers. IYS provides early intervention, prevention, and care related to mental health and substance use, as well as coordinated access to additional supports and services.

Each IYS site delivers rapid access to high-quality, youth-appropriate, evidence-informed services. Youth may access supports in person, by telephone, or through virtual platforms. The goal of Integrated Youth Services is to transform how young people access mental health care and related supports.

Anchor Youth Space Principles

Youth and caregiver participation in service design, implementation, and evaluation
Co-location and integration of services, including mental health and addictions care, primary health care, community and peer supports, and social services
Continuity of care from ages 12 to 25, including transition supports into adult services
Culturally responsive, accessible, high-quality, youth-centred, and evidence-informed services
Stepped care approach to ensure the right level of care at the right time by the right provider
Ongoing collaboration across Anchor Youth Space Nova Scotia sites and the Provincial Leadership Team
Continuous measurement of service impact and quality improvement

In This Role, You Will

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Youth Services Coordinator is often the first point of contact for youth and families and plays a key role in supporting access to services at the site. This position provides reception, administrative, and organizational support to the Site Manager, core site staff, and other team members as assigned, while supporting daily site operations and service delivery. This role involves regular interaction with youth and caregivers.

You will:

Embrace a holistic approach to youth wellbeing, guided by the Pan-Canadian IYS principles and equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, accessibility, and anti-racism (EDIRAA).

Act professionally and ethically in accordance with organizational and Anchor Youth Space guidelines, applicable legislation, regulations, and professional standards.

Welcome youth and caregivers and promote a positive, supportive experience while connecting them to appropriate services.

Support the team in maintaining a safe environment and responding constructively to challenging behaviours.

Communicate promptly and effectively with team members, youth, and caregivers.

Answer phone calls, relay messages, and follow up as appropriate.

Process incoming and outgoing mail and email correspondence.

Support group programs and drop-in services to ensure they meet youth needs.

Maintain snacks and beverages in the waiting area.

Respond to sensitive situations with discretion, tact, confidentiality, and a non-judgmental approach.

Coordinate bookings and administrative details for clinics, events, and meetings.

Create and manage social media content for Anchor Youth Space.

Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Maintain filing systems, manuals, and records for efficient information management.

Enter and support data collection in the Anchor Youth Space Nova platform, including assisting youth as needed.

Participate in planning, development, and team-building activities.

Participate in training, professional development, research, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

Perform other related duties as required.

Education and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required, with some post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience working with youth and caregivers
Diploma in Office Administration, Business, or a related field preferred
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required; 2 years preferred (experience working with youth and caregivers required)
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered (must be clearly demonstrated in application)
Strong knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, accessibility, and anti-racism (EDIRAA)
Experience working with diverse communities, including African Nova Scotian, Newcomer, and Indigenous populations required
Strong communication, relationship-building, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong judgment, interpersonal sensitivity, and diplomacy
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Ability to maintain accurate electronic records
Proficiency in MS Office, email, and file management systems
Ability to work in-person, by phone, and virtually
Additional languages are considered an asset
