Full job description

Overview
**This job posting is for a part-time position, approx 3 shifts per week, providing front desk coverage for team member absences and peak business periods. Not suited for students as requirement extends beyond August.”

The Inn at Huff Estates is a 21 room accommodation located in the heart of Prince Edward County. Also on site is a winery, art gallery and sculpture garden.

We are looking for a friendly, outgoing and energetic Front Desk Attendant (FDA) to join our hospitality team. The front desk is a very important role and is the first impression guests receive when they arrive at the Inn.

The FDA role requires a professional, customer-focused attitude, strong computer and organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A high level of written and spoken English is required to ensure clear and professional communication with guests.

Responsibilities

Greet guests and welcome them to the property
Check-in and check-out guests efficiently and accurately
Process guest payments, credit card authorizations and maintain accurate billing records
Process Gift Card purchases
Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests in a friendly, timely, calm, professional and effective manner
Manage guest reservations, cancellations, and modifications using Inn property management software and OTA’s. Maintain room inventory on OTA’s.
Answer phone calls promptly, using polite and professional phone etiquette to assist guests with their inquiries or reservations
Book reservations for accommodation and special packages
Work closely with the housekeeping team to ensure rooms are prepared for incoming guests
Offer details about Inn & Winery services, OENO Gallery, nearby attractions, and amenities to enrich the guest experience
Check, sort, and answer e-mails in an informative, courteous and professional manner or forward to the appropriate department.
Keep the reception area tidy and presentable with restocking of supplies, and light cleaning duties (including dusting, sweeping and cleaning of glass and surfaces)
Assist guests with minor room issues (TV troubleshooting, extra linens or amenities)
Assist with boardroom set-up, clean-up as required for group bookings. This may include clearing away and cleaning dishes.
Assist GM with group event planning, itineraries, and related documentation when requested
Order Inn supplies when directed
Track and/or post sale of wine (by the bottle) to guest rooms and/or master folio for groups
Must have current Smart-Serve certificate or be willing to obtain within 2 weeks of hire date
Criminal Background check required
Food Handler Certificate an asset
Log wine inventory and replenish wine display as needed
Maintain privacy and confidentiality on Inn operations and guest information
Must be physically able to go up and down stairs and lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
In colder months shoveling and/or salting of front lobby entrance &/or guest room paths may be required to ensure guest safety.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a front desk or customer service role is preferred
Experience with POS system
Familiarity with phone systems and hotel management software is a plus
Capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining composure and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with the use of office equipment (e.g. fax, printer, computers etc.)
Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word)
Strong communication and people skills
Bilingual skills are highly valued for serving a diverse range of guests, though they are not mandatory.
Strong organizational & problem-solving skills
A team player with a willingness to assist other team members as needed
Must be available to work weekends, a variety of shifts and holidays
Please note this is a Seasonal Role.

Front desk experience preferred but willing to train the right individual. **This posting is for a part-time front desk position to assist with peak season demand and call-ins.** Primary shift requirement for this posting will be between 8 am - 11 pm.

Pay starting at $19.00 / hour + Shift premium for afternoon shifts (3:30 - 11 pm).

Must have your own transportation as public transportation is not available. Must be legally able to work in Canada.
