Company Overview

JK Bakery Cafe has been a beloved local establishment operating in beautiful Canmore, Alberta since 1994. We operate two retail cafes and a wholesale department supplying baked goods and lunches to local hotels and restaurants.

Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pastry Cook/Bread Baker to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate has a passion for baking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will help prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries and desserts while ensuring consistency, quality, and food safety standards.

We do not have an LMIA for this position - please do not apply unless you hold an open work permit or are a permanent resident or citizen.

Responsibilities

Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
Follow recipes and production schedules accurately.
Measure, mix, shape, proof, bake, and decorate products as required.
Maintain consistent product quality and presentation standards.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment.
Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
Support the bakery team with daily production and special orders.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a pastry cook, baker, or similar role preferred.
Knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and baking methods.
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic.
Food Safe certification is an asset.
