Schedule: 7-days on, 7-days off rotation with 12-hour workdays

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the maintenance team in the timely and efficient upkeep of Conuma's fleet of mining equipment, prioritizing safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Oversee the troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair processes for heavy mining equipment and ancillary machinery, ensuring strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and technical standards.
Provide technical support and expertise to the team, offering guidance during complex maintenance tasks and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Cultivate a strong culture of safety by actively involving the team in safety programs and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.
Efficiently schedule and oversee a diverse team of maintenance personnel to optimize equipment availability and minimize downtime, aligning maintenance activities to support company objectives and production goals.
Collaborate with the planning team to maintain preventive maintenance schedules and manage repairs, ensuring equipment is kept in peak operating condition.
Promote effective teamwork and communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring team members possess the necessary skills and training for their roles.
Lead and conduct daily morning meetings to discuss priorities, safety topics, and operational updates, ensuring a cohesive and informed workforce.
Manage maintenance contractors, ensuring external teams meet Conuma's standards and effectively support maintenance objectives.
Conduct incident investigations, maintain detailed maintenance records, and support departmental improvements to boost operational efficiency, cost management, and environmental compliance.
Resolve, document, and escalate personnel issues as appropriate, maintaining a productive and respectful work environment.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
Extensive experience with heavy mining equipment and ancillary machinery used in open pit coal mining, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
A minimum of 4 years' demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems.
Knowledge and experience in environmental management practices, especially in spill avoidance, containment, and reporting, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship.
Valid Mine Supervisor Certificate or eligibility for a Provisional Mine Supervisor Certificate.

Technical Competencies & Skills

Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on a 7x7 rotation.
Proficient in English communication, essential for clear and effective team leadership, safety compliance, and operational coordination.
Thorough understanding of mine equipment safety and maintenance standards, ensuring a high level of operational safety and equipment integrity.
Leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, vital for building a cohesive, efficient, and motivated maintenance team.
Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, enabling effective troubleshooting and maintenance strategies.
The ability to build strong relationships and foster a culture of safety, integrity, and teamwork, essential for maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, alongside the capacity to quickly adapt to computer software programs necessary for managing employee administrative tasks such as timecards, vacation requests, and leaves.
Demonstrated stress and time management competencies, crucial for managing the demands of a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure work environment.
A motivational leadership style that encourages team engagement and drives the achievement of safety and operational targets, contributing to a positive work culture.

Wage and Benefits

Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Senior Maintenance Supervisor role, we offer an annual base salary range of $124,000.00 - $133,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.
