Full job description

Experienced Arborist Climber – Full-Time Permanent

We are currently seeking an experienced Arborist Climber to join our team in a full-time, permanent position.

This role is suited to a skilled and experienced arborist with a strong background in climbing, rigging, tree removal, pruning, and working safely at height. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience across all aspects of modern arboriculture and be confident working independently as well as leading and supporting a professional crew.

Significant climbing experience is required. Only candidates with demonstrated arboricultural climbing experience will be considered.

Key Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will have proven experience with:

Professional tree climbing and working-at-height systems, including advanced climbing techniques and equipment.
Manual rigging systems for safely lowering, moving, and transporting tree sections and other loads.
Tree falling and removal, including assessing trees, planning removals, and executing work safely and efficiently.
Tree pruning, including knowledge of proper pruning techniques and tree health.
Tree physiology and arboricultural practices, with a solid understanding of how trees grow, respond to pruning, and react to environmental conditions.
Safely working around and operating in conjunction with elevated work platforms and cranes.
Operating arboricultural equipment, including bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and various hand tools.
Conducting and leading morning safety meetings and daily job planning, including identifying site hazards, assigning responsibilities, and establishing appropriate safe work practices.
Maintaining a strong focus on job-site safety, hazard awareness, and professional work standards.
Communicating effectively with crew members, supervisors, clients, and other contractors.
Working effectively as part of a team while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

We are looking for someone who brings real-world arboricultural experience, confidence in the tree, strong technical skills, and a commitment to doing the job safely and professionally.

The ideal candidate is a capable climber who can assess a job, select the appropriate climbing and rigging systems, work efficiently, and contribute their experience to the overall success of the crew.

Preferred Qualifications

ISA Certification – an asset, but not required.
First Aid Certification.
Valid driver’s licence.
Demonstrated experience working as a professional Arborist Climber.
