Full job description

The Lead Bartender / Shift Supervisor is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service, creating an engaging guest experience, supporting entertainment activities, supervising staff during assigned shifts, and ensuring the efficient operation of the pub. This position plays a key role in guest satisfaction, team leadership, sales growth, and maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Guest Service & Sales

Deliver exceptional guest service by welcoming guests, building rapport, responding promptly to concerns, and creating a positive and memorable pub experience.
Promote food, beverages, entertainment, promotions, and special events to maximize guest satisfaction and sales.
Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items, beverages, and guest experiences.
Take food and beverage orders accurately and process them through the POS system.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and Serving It Right standards.
Present bills, process payments, and balance cash and payment transactions.

Floor Service & Guest Experience

Provide table service throughout the pub as required while monitoring guest satisfaction and creating a welcoming, energetic atmosphere.
Support entertainment activities including live music, karaoke, promotions, themed nights, and special events to enhance the guest experience.
Work collaboratively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely service.

Shift Supervision

Act as Shift Supervisor for servers and support staff when assigned.
Provide direction and support to servers during service.
Assist with coordinating floor operations, service flow, and staff assignments.
Monitor service standards and ensure staff comply with company policies and procedures.
Communicate operational concerns, guest feedback, staffing issues, employee performance concerns, guest incidents, and policy violations to management.
Ensure servers complete opening, side work, cleaning, and closing duties according to established standards.
Assist with training and mentoring new team members.

Bar Operations

Complete opening and closing duties according to established procedures, including cleaning, securing the premises, and preparing the pub for the next service period.
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar, dining, and guest service area, including washrooms, staff and storage areas.
Clean draft lines, glassware, equipment, and work areas according to schedules and standards.
Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, change kegs, and notify management of replenishment needs.
Participate in inventory counts and communicate ordering requirements to management.
Maintain and safeguard cash floats, liquor inventory, and company assets.
Balance cash, debit, credit card, and POS transactions and report discrepancies immediately.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all liquor regulations, food safety requirements, company policies, and health and safety procedures.
Maintain Serving It Right certification and all required certifications.
Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance concerns promptly.
Ensure a safe and professional environment for guests and employees.

Teamwork & Professionalism

Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
Support coworkers and contribute to a respectful team environment.
Attend training sessions and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Serving It Right Certification (required).
Food Safe Level 1 Certification (preferred + required within 90 days of hire).
Minimum 2 years of bartending or food and beverage service experience.
Previous experience in a pub, restaurant, lounge, or hospitality environment preferred.
Previous cash handling and point-of-sale experience required.
Previous supervisory, shift lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
Strong customer service, leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of liquor regulations, responsible alcohol service practices, and food safety standards.
Ability to assist with entertainment events and create a welcoming, engaging atmosphere for guests.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, reach, twist, stoop, kneel, and move safely throughout bar, dining, storage, and event areas.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and making sound decisions.
Ability to supervise staff and professionally handle guest concerns and difficult situations.
Ability to safely handle equipment, products, cash reconciliations, inventories, reports, schedules, and operational documentation.

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
