Full job description

Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: 4552 Cumberland Rd, Cumberland BC
Employment Type: Full -Time
Reports To: Controller

Job Summary

The full-time accounting assistant supports the finance department with day-to-day financial and administrative tasks. This role involves maintaining financial records, assisting with bookkeeping, processing transactions, and ensuring accuracy in financial documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with numbers and accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with data entry of financial transactions into accounting systems.
Maintain and update financial records, spreadsheets, and reports.
Process invoices, receipts, and expense claims.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing.
Organize and maintain financial documents and filing systems.
Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding financial matters.
Support the finance team during audits or tax preparation.
Back up for front office phones, customer walk in’s and our Aggregates department.

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or related bookkeeping experience.
Bookkeeping experience and asset.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
Familiarity with accounting software (Sage 50) is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good communication and time management skills.

Preferred Skills

Ability to maintain confidential financial information.
Basic understanding of financial reporting and budgeting.
Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Compensation

Hourly rate: $25 - $30 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
