Full job description

Job #5032 – Fantastic opportunity to join one of Ottawa’s prominent Crown corporations as their Controller on a 3-year term with a strong potential of becoming permanent! This is a rare opportunity to get your foot in the door with a well-respected organization and contribute to the delivery and management of complex construction, infrastructure, and environmental projects. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller oversees the organization’s financial reporting, planning, and controls environment, ensuring accurate, timely, and decision-ready information for senior leadership and the Board. The role provides oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and in-year performance reporting, and ensures strong financial governance through effective policies, systems, and accounting operations. A key focus of the role is strengthening financial discipline and performance by identifying risks, improving processes, and enhancing internal controls through continuous review and targeted recommendations. The ideal candidate is a technically strong finance leader who can operate effectively in a complex environment and partner seamlessly with senior stakeholders. Main responsibilities include:

Lead financial reporting and assurance activities, ensuring integrity, compliance, and transparency across internal and external reporting
Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and overall financial performance
Lead the accounting operations function, including team leadership, capability development, and operational oversight
Oversee external audit engagement and internal control frameworks, including compliance and certification processes
Drive financial strategy, policy development, and continuous improvement of financial governance and processes
Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
Oversee financial risk identification, assessment, and mitigation, while supporting enhancements to financial systems, tools, and capabilities

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

CPA designation required
Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS
Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems
Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset
Proficient with ERP systems
Bilingual – English/French (CBC is required)
