Kelowna General Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Clerk to join their team in Kelowna B.C.!

This position works rotating days, evenings 06:30 to 14:30, 07:30 to 13:30, 08:00 to 16:00, 10:00 to 18:00, 13:30 to 19:30, 14:30 to 22:30

What Will You Work On?
This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:

Processes calls (internal and external) and establishes communication links.
Provides information to customers and assists in relaying messages to appropriate source.
Answers emergency calls and follows established communications procedures in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, bombs threats and disasters.
Maintains Physician paging system and after hours physician’s emergency lines as per established protocol.
Records and organizes data to facilitate the operations of the morgue. Informs appropriate personnel of any unusual circumstances/situations. Arranges transport with funeral homes as required.
Receives "On-Call" information from physicians and updates data as required. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals needing current, accurate information.
Receives patent porter requests and dispatches transfers to the patient porter team.
Maintains confidentiality of classified information and keeps manager informed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
