GENERAL SUMMARY
The Materials Manager is a key member of the site leadership team, reporting directly to the Site Leader. This position is responsible for leading all materials, planning, purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain functions to support business objectives, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, results-oriented leader with expertise in materials management, inventory control, demand planning, logistics, and supply chain operations. Serving as the subject matter expert for material flow processes, this individual will lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, accountability, and talent development. The Materials Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure materials, inventory, and logistics strategies align with customer requirements, production schedules, and business goals while maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and service.
This position is 100% on-site at the Cambridge, Ontario facility. Hybrid work arrangements are currently not available.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Leadership & Team Development
· Lead, coach, and develop the Planning and Purchasing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
· Conduct performance management activities, including goal setting, coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.
· Serve as a trusted advisor and supply chain subject matter expert to site leadership and cross-functional teams.
· Promote collaboration across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Finance, and Sales.
Supply Chain & Logistics Leadership
· Collaborate with Corporate Supply Chain, Commodity Managers, and suppliers to develop and execute world-class vendor management processes while improving supplier quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost performance.
· Lead purchasing, planning, logistics, and supplier performance activities while developing strategies that support business growth, material availability, and operational objectives.
· Ensure the efficient flow of materials throughout the supply chain to meet customer delivery commitments and production schedules.
· Partner with Corporate Supply Chain to develop and execute risk mitigation strategies related to supply chain disruptions and material shortages.
· Work closely with Site Leadership and the Inventory Specialist to ensure inventory strategies support current business needs and future operational objectives.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
· Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, ISO requirements, and best practices related to materials management and supply chain operations.
· Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging business metrics, operational data, ERP/MRP systems, and digital tools to implement sustainable process improvements.
· Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory, supplier performance, customer delivery, material availability, and team effectiveness.
· Lead inventory optimization initiatives, including excess and inactive inventory reduction programs, while maintaining service levels and minimizing operational risk.
Planning & Inventory Management
· Maintain the integrity of ERP, MRP, and planning systems to support accurate demand planning, forecasting, and replenishment activities.
· Partner with Operations, Sales, and Finance to align inventory strategies with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) requirements.
· Ensure master data accuracy, including bills of materials, lead times, planning parameters, and inventory controls.
· Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and product phase-in/phase-out activities.
· Utilize data-driven analysis to improve inventory performance, forecasting accuracy, reporting, and overall operational effectiveness.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Materials Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, or Inventory Management within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong experience with ERP, MRP, demand planning, inventory control, and logistics management systems.
- APICS Certification (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience in a job shop, engineered-to-order, or manufacturing environment preferred.

· Demonstrated leadership ability with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing people, while influencing cross-functional teams and leading change initiatives that drive continuous improvement and measurable business results.
· Subject matter expertise in supply chain management, logistics, inventory control, purchasing, planning, and materials management.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex operational data, establish priorities, and execute effectively in a dynamic business environment.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and data analysis tools, with a strong commitment to data integrity and accuracy.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, bills of materials, inventory management principles, and supply chain best practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Manufacturing and office environment. When working in shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $103,483 to $129,353 CAD range based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
