Since this is a Mechanical Engineering role, the focus shifts toward the structural integrity of the seats, the mechanics of the suspension systems, and the technical precision of the assembly line.

Production Manager (Mechanical Engineer)

Location: St-Hubert, Quebec

Reporting To: Engineering & Operations Director

### Position Summary

Knoedler is seeking a Production Manager with a Mechanical Engineering background to lead our Seating Assembly department. This is not just a "people management" role; it is a technical leadership position. You will oversee the assembly of complex, pneumatic-mechanical suspension systems, ensuring that engineering specifications are met with 100% accuracy.

### Key Responsibilities1. Technical Production Oversight

Lead the final assembly of heavy-duty seating, focusing on the mechanical interaction between pneumatic air-springs, scissor-suspension frames, and ergonomic supports.
Review and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure assembly teams maintain critical tolerances.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures or assembly misalignments on the floor in real-time.

2. Process Engineering & Optimization

Apply engineering principles (Lean, Six Sigma) to eliminate waste and reduce cycle times in the assembly and upholstery cells.
Design and implement custom assembly fixtures, specialized hand-tooling, and pneumatic testing stations to improve throughput.
Oversee the integration of ProBax™ technology and 4-way power adjustment frames, ensuring all mechanical linkages operate smoothly.

3. Quality & Structural Integrity

Act as the final technical authority on the floor for quality assurance, ensuring all seats meet FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards).
Lead the "Design for Assembly" (DFA) feedback loop, working with the R&D team in Grand Haven/St-Hubert to simplify product builds and reduce parts counts.
Manage the calibration of torque tools and testing equipment used for suspension validation.

4. Operational Leadership

Manage a team of 20+ assemblers and technicians, providing technical mentorship and performance coaching.
Drive the production schedule through the ERP system, managing BOMs and labor routing to meet aggressive fleet delivery dates.
Oversee workplace safety protocols, ensuring compliance with CNESST and internal safety standards.

### Candidate Profile

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng) or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: 5+ years in a manufacturing leadership role. Experience with welded assemblies, pneumatics, or moving mechanical parts is highly preferred.
Technical Savvy: * Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) to verify designs.
Strong understanding of kinematics and structural mechanics.
Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing data analytics.
Language: Professional proficiency in both French and English (Required).
Soft Skills: A "hands-on" engineer who enjoys being on the floor, solving physical problems alongside the team.

### Responsabilités Clés1. Supervision Technique de la Production

Diriger l'assemblage final des sièges robustes, en se concentrant sur l'interaction mécanique entre les ressorts pneumatiques, les cadres de suspension en ciseaux et les supports ergonomiques.
Réviser et interpréter les dessins d'ingénierie et les tolérances géométriques (GD&T) pour s'assurer que les équipes d'assemblage respectent les tolérances critiques.
Diagnostiquer et résoudre en temps réel les défaillances mécaniques ou les problèmes d'alignement directement sur le plancher de production.

2. Ingénierie des Procédés et Optimisation

Appliquer les principes d'ingénierie (Lean, Six Sigma) pour éliminer le gaspillage et réduire les temps de cycle dans les cellules d'assemblage et de rembourrage.
Concevoir et mettre en œuvre des gabarits d'assemblage personnalisés, de l'outillage spécialisé et des stations d'essais pneumatiques pour augmenter la cadence.
Superviser l'intégration de la technologie ProBax™ et des cadres de réglage électrique, en veillant au bon fonctionnement de toutes les tringleries mécaniques.

3. Qualité et Intégrité Structurelle

Agir en tant qu'autorité technique finale sur le plancher pour l'assurance qualité, en s'assurant que tous les sièges respectent les normes de sécurité (FMVSS/NSVAC).
Collaborer étroitement avec l'équipe R&D pour simplifier la fabrication des produits et réduire le nombre de composants (DFA - Design for Assembly).
Gérer l'étalonnage des outils de couple et des équipements d'essai utilisés pour la validation des suspensions.

4. Leadership Opérationnel

Gérer une équipe de plus de 20 assembleurs et techniciens, en offrant un mentorat technique et un encadrement de la performance.
Piloter le calendrier de production via le système ERP, en gérant les nomenclatures (BOM) et les gammes de fabrication pour respecter les dates de livraison des flottes.
Superviser les protocoles de santé et sécurité au travail, en assurant la conformité avec les normes de la CNESST.

### Profil Recherché

Formation : Baccalauréat en Génie Mécanique (B. Ing.) ou dans une discipline connexe.
Expérience : Plus de 5 ans dans un rôle de direction de production. Une expérience avec les assemblages soudés, la pneumatique ou les mécanismes mobiles est fortement privilégiée.
Compétences Techniques : * Maîtrise de la CAO 3D (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) pour la vérification des conceptions.
Excellente compréhension de la cinématique et de la mécanique structurelle.
Expérience avec les systèmes ERP et l'analyse de données de fabrication.
Langues : Maîtrise professionnelle du français et de l'anglais (Indispensable).
Aptitudes : Un ingénieur de terrain qui aime résoudre des problèmes physiques aux côtés de son équipe.

Précision de Fabrication : Réduction des réclamations de garantie liées à l'assemblage mécanique.
Efficacité de la Ligne : Optimisation du « Takt Time » de l'assemblage suspension-cadre.
Amélioration Continue : Mise en œuvre d'au moins une amélioration majeure des processus mécaniques par trimestre.
