About the opportunity:
- Coordinate the planning, prioritization and monitoring of maintenance activities to support optimal plant operation by planning the activities of maintenance personnel and contractors. Collaborate with production supervisors, maintenance planner, maintenance supervisors, and the maintenance team buyer to optimize the use of maintenance resources.
- Provides leadership to improve occupational health and safety performance by leading by example in safety and by exercising due diligence in the application of elements of the company's health and safety program. These elements focus on preventing incidents through hazard identification, implementation of necessary controls, training, education and audits. If necessary, take corrective action to correct unsafe situations and review unsafe employee behaviour. Comply with Lactalis' essential rules and other safety rules and procedures. Contact the appropriate resources to correct hazardous situations or unsafe employee behaviour.
- Provide leadership and supervision of staff by providing work guidelines, performance feedback, and training and development recommendations. Promote a positive labour-management relationship and ensure compliance with company rules and legal obligations under the collective agreement (if applicable), as well as various regulations and legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, the Workers' Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Monitor contractors and ensure that they comply with plant procedures and contractual requirements, including installation, modifications and maintenance associated with equipment. Ensure that all relevant activities are carried out in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, requirements related to good manufacturing practices, as well as company standards.
- Ensure superior operational performance by identifying opportunities and implementing improvements in plant costs and operations. Troubleshoot problems associated with production equipment performance and take effective corrective action in a timely manner. Ensure the effective implementation of maintenance and preventive maintenance schedules and programs. Coordinates and follows up on repairs to unplanned equipment breakdowns, including labour, materials and time required to ensure that the work is completed according to standards.
- Liaise between production, maintenance and engineering teams to ensure that resources are used efficiently, that problems are resolved in a timely manner, that responsible managers are consulted or kept informed of appropriate activities, and that required approvals are obtained under the plant's process change and purchasing policies.
- Support the management of the department's budget by monitoring expenditures against the plan and then report costs in SAP software or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
The attributes we are looking for:
· College or university diploma, or equivalent trades certificate
· Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a maintenance supervisor in a plant in a unionized environment preferred
· Three (3) years of related experience in the fields of electrical, control systems or mechanics
· Experience in implementing preventive maintenance systems and managing maintenance budgets according to an established operating plan
· Excellent understanding of processing systems, primarily in relation to dairy or food processing facilities
· Good knowledge of processing systems, high-speed packaging and food factories
· Proven leadership, problem diagnosis and team building skills; Ability to lead and supervise a team of skilled trades workers
· Knowledge and experience with SAP software or CMMS systems (Maximo), including work plans, purchase orders and equipment bills of materials
· Strong leadership skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Proficiency in standard office automation tools, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Suite, database and management systems

Compensation:
As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is $78 600– $98 300+.
Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
