This opportunity is ideally suited to a project manager with approximately 3 to 8 years of directly relevant retail construction project management experience.

You have experience overseeing retail construction projects of varying size and complexity.
You are able to work on-site in the Montreal Area.
If you reside beyond a reasonable commuting distance from the Montreal Area, relocation will be required.
Travel to project sites anywhere in Canada will be required as needed.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Retail Construction Project Manager to oversee multiple retail construction and renovation projects across Canada.
Reporting to the Director of Construction, you will manage projects from concept and planning through permitting, construction, occupancy and final closeout.
You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with company standards.
You will work closely with general contractors, architects, consultants, landlords, vendors and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
Manage multiple concurrent retail construction and renovation projects.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality and compliance.
Coordinate project activities among contractors, consultants, landlords, vendors and internal stakeholders.
Ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and according to company standards.
Financial Management
Develop project budgets and monitor expenditures.
Review project costs and identify potential budget variances.
Negotiate cost-effective solutions with general contractors and vendors.
Issue and manage purchase orders for construction materials, fixtures, equipment and services.
Procurement and Contractor Management
Lead tendering activities, including preparing bid packages, evaluating submissions and awarding contracts.
Manage contractor and vendor performance throughout project execution.
Ensure that all work meets company quality, safety and performance standards.
Stakeholder Communication
Maintain effective communication with internal departments, landlords, contractors, consultants and vendors.
Coordinate approvals, site access, lease obligations and construction schedules.
Provide regular updates regarding project timelines, budgets, risks and outstanding issues.
Escalate significant project concerns to the Director of Construction when appropriate.
Risk and Compliance Management
Identify and mitigate project risks.
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations and permitting requirements.
Coordinate inspections and occupancy permits.
Manage project closeout documentation, deficiency resolution and final handover.
Qualifications
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant retail construction project management experience.
Experience managing projects from concept and planning through occupancy and final closeout.
Experience working in retail environments, including shopping centres, strip plazas, downtown locations and free-standing stores.
Experience coordinating contractors, architects, consultants, landlords, vendors and internal stakeholders.
The position will most closely match candidates with approximately 3 to 8 years of directly relevant experience.
Candidates with additional experience will also be considered where the position’s responsibilities, compensation range and reporting structure align with their career interests.
Experience managing new store openings, renovations, relocations and tenant-improvement projects is considered a strong asset.

Ability to travel to project sites anywhere in Canada, as required.
Willingness to relocate if residing beyond a reasonable commuting distance from the Montreal Area.
Compensation
Base salary of $85,000 to $110,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
