Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Rig Manager to oversee operations on oil rigs (small carrier mounted singles) related to oil & gas extraction. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, extensive experience with pre-set surface casing, coring, delineation, drilling. Heavy equipment operation, and a comprehensive understanding of safety standards specifically, oil & gas regulations. The Rig Manager will lead teams in the safe and efficient execution of drilling, cementing and other related activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Duties

Supervise daily operations on oil rigs, including pre-set surface, coring, delineation drilling, cementing, rig moving and other drilling activities.
Manage and coordinate the operation of all drilling equipment such as the carrier mounted rig, mud tanks, mud pumps, lightplants, boilers, core-van, water & vacuum trucks, and cementer.
Oversee rigging procedures, ensuring all lifting operations are performed safely and efficiently.
Monitor the use of mechanical equipment, troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Ensure compliance with Operators & Komat safety standards and company policies across all operations.
Coordinate with construction for site setup, equipment mobilization, and logistical support.
Coordinate with the operations team, and head office for paperwork, including invoicing, rig safety, payroll, overhead log books and maintenance schedules.
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to promote a safe working environment.
Maintain detailed records of operational activities, safety incidents, and equipment maintenance.
Lead emergency response procedures when necessary to ensure personnel safety.

Skills

Proven experience managing pre-set or single rigs within the oil & gas industry.
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including mud tanks, mud pumps, lightplants, boilers, core-van, water & vacuum trucks, and cementers.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols specific to oil & gas operations.
Ability to operate or oversee the operation of specialized machinery such as all drilling rig equipment and cementing equipment.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments.
Oil & gas site experience with a focus on safety compliance and operational efficiency.
Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) required for operating or overseeing transportation vehicles like tractors and rig loads.
Must have current 2nd line BOP course completed, along with Boiler operating tickets.

Pay: $875.00-$1,300.00 per day
