About the position

Duties
As a Vice-President reporting to the President, your executive leadership will also focus on developing and implementing strategies, programs, and initiatives to advance the government’s national economic development agenda in the region. Key responsibilities include:

Providing cohesive departmental leadership through the integration of policy, program development, delivery, and resource management.
Establishing partnerships with federal, provincial, and municipal governments, industry associations, and stakeholders to drive economic growth.
Addressing regional economic challenges, and developing innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness.
Advocating for the region’s economic interests and representing the Agency’s priorities to senior decision-makers, including the Minister and federal officials.
Managing human and financial resources, ensuring cost-effectiveness and organizational efficiency.

Work environment
This role operates in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment, requiring engagement with diverse stakeholders, including provincial governments, First Nations communities, industry associations, and the public. The Vice-President must stay informed about regional economic and political developments and align strategies with federal and provincial priorities. Key aspects of the work environment include:

Collaboration with a team of senior executives and directors responsible for enterprise development, community development, tourism, communications, and corporate services.
Regular interaction with federal and provincial deputy ministers and elected officials.
A focus on addressing challenges such as economic diversification, and regional competitiveness.
A fast-paced, strategic setting that demands visionary leadership, advocacy skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder interests.

EDUCATION:
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in developing and managing inter-jurisdictional relationships for the purpose of delivering government programs.
Experience in developing and managing business networks involving government or other partners.
Executive management experience in a professional, multi-disciplined management environment.
Experience in providing expert authoritative advice and guidance on highly sensitive, political, multi-stakeholder issues and building and sustaining a wide variety of contacts and consultative frameworks with the most senior levels in federal government and/or other levels of government and/or the private sector.
Experience in providing policy direction in the design and development of regionally focused policies.
Experience in managing both human and financial resources.

The expected experience for each criterion refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with carrying out a broad range of complex activities over an approximate period of at least three (3) years.
