The Cahill Group is seeking a motivated and collaborative Project Buyer to join the team supporting a major design-build project in St. John’s, NL. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile infrastructure project that will have a meaningful and lasting impact across Newfoundland and Labrador, while gaining valuable experience supporting the delivery of a large-scale and complex build.
What will you do?

Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Solicit quotations and negotiate price and delivery of materials and services, with a focus on total cost of acquisition.

Review BOM, Procurement plans, field requisitions, and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Analyze risk within the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies where appropriate and understand supplier capacity and effect on supply and planning.

Assist the project team in establishing and deploying the job site tooling and construction equipment management program.

Support development and deployment of the material storage, control, and preservation strategies for project assets.

Establish and manage min-max controls of project consumables and coordinate vendor replenishment programs to promote construction efficiencies.

Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships and communications with suppliers and internal departments such as estimating and project management teams.

Provide pricing & delivery feedback loop to estimating group and interact with Project Manager’s & Foreperson’s to ensure that all job requirements are being met.

Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
What will you bring?

Construction experience preferred, ideally in electrical or mechanical field.

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. SCMP, PMAC, or APICS certification would also be considered an asset.

At least five (5) years buying experience.

High level of proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

Previous purchasing experience with Coupa would be considered an asset.

Ability to work efficiently with ERP systems and digital document control platforms.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
