About Us

Nestled in the heart of Mississauga along the banks of the Credit River, Credit Valley Golf and Country Club offers a four-season premier private club experience featuring a celebrated 18-hole golf course, world-class practice facility, and comprehensive clubhouse amenities including a Winter Golf Academy, full-service restaurant and event facilities, pool and health and wellness programming.

Job Summary

The General Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting function and month-end financial reporting process. The role includes general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and supporting the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly and apply sound accounting judgment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, and other general ledger entries.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on reconciling items.
Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
Review general ledger activity for accuracy and appropriate account classification.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payroll accounts, clearing accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting and reconciliations.
Support payroll accounting and related reconciliations.
Prepare account analysis and supporting schedules for financial reporting.
Assist with budget-to-actual and period-over-period variance analysis.
Review financial information and investigate discrepancies or unusual balances.
Maintain complete and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist with year-end audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Work with other departments to obtain information required for accounting and reporting.
Support improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
Perform other accounting, payroll and financial analysis duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including:
debits and credits;
journal entries;
accruals and prepaids;
general ledger accounting;
balance sheet accounts and reconciliations; and
financial statement fundamentals.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including:
PivotTables;
XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP;
SUMIFS and commonly used formulas;
filtering and sorting; and
working with financial data.
Strong numerical and analytical aptitude.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
