About the Position

This is a hybrid position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.

The firm’s teams are diverse, and you will work closely together – you will never be just a number at our organization. Plus, you will get the added benefit of further developing your skill set through working with a wide variety of clients and robust list of industries.

Summary of Responsibilities

Independently plan, lead, and complete small- to mid-sized audit and review engagements, while providing guidance, coaching, and support to junior team members throughout the engagement.
Plan, execute, and complete compilation engagements and related tax preparation during the assurance practice's slower periods.
Draft corporate tax returns and prepare appropriate tax checklists.
Prepare personal tax returns including gathering, sorting and entering client information into iFirm.
Recognize relevant accounting and audit issues from basic analysis.
Understand the technical standards with the expected level of assistance and supervision.
Build effective working relationships in assignments with operational client contacts.
Respond effectively to client requests.
Begin to perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements.
Provide suggestions related to an assignment or project.
Maintain technical knowledge – IFRS, ASPE, CAS – by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks.

Summary of Experience

Public accounting experience
2+ years experience with assurance and tax

Requirements:

Completion of a University Accounting degree and working towards obtaining their CPA designation.
Thorough understanding of ASPE, CAS and Canadian Tax to be able to complete the more complex areas of an engagement.
Strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
Teamwork and the ability to support team goals.
Development of a business advisor mindset is important.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with external clients.
Possess strong project management skills and organization, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Caseware, Jazz-it, TaxPrep (or other similar tax program), and QuickBooks

Job Vacancy Status: New Vacancy
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; the role requires overtime as necessary to meet operational and professional requirements.

Salary: $63,000- $80,000
Compensation placement will be based on depth of experience, demonstrated skill set, and alignment with the responsibilities of the role.
